I’m not much of a cyclist, so this isn’t really my area of expertise. Where does one go online to find the latest in bicycles and cycling accessories?
[warning if you sign up for either Nashbar’s or Performance’s e mail, you will get lots of sales fliers, maybe 4 a week. You have been warned]
When you say to find, do you mean to learn about or to actually purchase?
To learn about gear, I’d suggest cyclingnews.com, velonews.com, and pezcyclingnews.com. They all have some sort of ‘tech’ column for gear reviews.
To buy gear, I’d add excelsports.com and coloradocyclist.com. They tend to carry higher end products more than Performance or Nashbar.
What kind of gear are you looking for? As in any field, the truly cutting-edge stuff isn’t available from mainstream mail-order stores, and you have to find a specialty shop.
Besides the stores already mentioned, here are some mainstream mail-order stores with good selection:
Cambria Bicycle Outfitter
Jenson USA
Harris Cyclery
One warning about Nashbar and Performance - don’t use ground shipping. I don’t know if they delay shipping those orders or what, but it takes forever. Orders with 2-day shipping are usually shipped quickly.
