Website that tracked other websites projecting 2008 US election?

Anybody recall that website that tracked other websites that were making 2008 US presidential election projections ?

Yeah. Or one that matches that description at any rate: 3BlueDudes Project Database. But they took it down and there’s irrelevant crap (with popups no less) there now, and Wayback Machine doesn’t have it either (thanx to robots.txt).

But it listed site after site and the most recent update date and what they had for Obama and for McCain in predicted electoral votes. Brief editorial comment at far right, (e.g., “from a RIGHT-wing site” or “McCain dropping off” or “What are they smoking?”) .

That the one you remembering?

You’re probably thinking of FiveThirtyEight.

That was it, thanks! And thanks ultrafilter too, even though your suggestion wasn’t it.

You wouldn’t happen to recall that one site that projecting McCain winning right until the end? Very right-wing site, not surprisingly.

:o

Sorry… I remember it BEING there but can’t recall the URL or site name. Had McCain winning Jersey, Maine, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, etc.

It was pretty funny, wasn’t it? It just crossed my mind recently and I wonder if/how the person explained or justified the projection being off by so much.

Was it Welcome electionprojection.com - BlueHost.com

Nope, not even close. That guy may be right-wing but his numbers are legitimate. His predictions were in synch with those on electoral-vote.com and others.

The guy we’re talking about had something like a 189 EV point spread separating his site’s predictions from the rest of the pack. He didn’t just have McCain slipping by with ~275 EVs (which would have been a difficult enough stretch) he had him at something like 325 or 350. Beating Obama in Maine, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida, New Mexico, Colorado, Iowa, Michigan, New Jersey, New Hampshire, and Wisconsin, with states like New York and Oregon and Washington set down as toss-ups.
