I have tried to access Reddit today with my personal laptop and it keeps giving 504 errors, “504 Gateway Timeout” or “openResty error.” This is the case regardless of browser - Chrome or Firefox.
But I have no problem accessing Reddit with my work laptop, or with my smartphone. How does that work?
It almost sounds like you’ve got a virus running a web proxy or something similar. Some of these bugs monitor your web usage and insert their own ads. If you were actually not connecting to reddit, you’d be getting a specific reddit error page. Since you’re not, something is intercepting your connections, and a proxy virus makes as much sense as anything.
Do some antivirus scans, and download and run Malware Bytes. Then report back.
OK, Reddit works okay now, on both Chrome and Firefox. Wonder how that works? (maybe something other than a virus proxy)
Might be using different DNS Servers and one was having a hiccup with Reddit.
