One of my friends has asked a bunch of us if we could perform some a cappella songs at her wedding dinner. At the moment we have one alto (me, but I can do mezzo-soprano parts as well), one tenor, one baritone and one bass. I am trying to get some other singers to join us as well but at the minimum we can work with the four of us.
What songs would work well for us and would fit into the wedding theme? We do have some time to identify songs and to look for/do arrangements. At the moment we’ve only shortlisted Annie’s Song (John Denver) and perhaps Can’t Take My Eyes Off You (but will probably need to re-arrange this, 'cos I don’t really like the arrangement we have). The bride hasn’t indicated any real preferences so we do have a reasonably free hand, but we’re more inclined towards contemporary stuff. Also, any other things I should consider?
On a side note, it seems to be the wedding season for my friends. Wedding gifts are really burning a hole in my pocket. Especially Chinese ones, since it is the custom to give money (hongbao) and the accepted rates are going up sigh
