Weed goes legit - would you toke up?

Never have, but would love to try it (in brownie form, that is) if it were legal.

Agreed on all points.

As a former big time stoner in the late 70’s- early 80’s I loved pot but when I went into the military they had just started urine test to weed (ha) out the personnel from the bad days of the 70’s in the military so I had to quit.

When I got out after 4 years I tried it again a couple of times with my buddies and it left me feeling so damn paranoid every time I tried it that it just wasn’t worth it.

So no more pot for this former party animal. I still like getting the occasional whiff of it though, it brings back some good memories.

I’ve never done pot (or any other drug) in any form. If it was legal I wouldn’t smoke it (I also don’t smoke–no desire to inhale anything like that) but I might be tempted to try something like a pot brownie just to see what it was like. I’m sure it wouldn’t become habitual, though–more of a “Oh. That’s what it feels like to be high” kind of thing.

I’ve always been fascinated by mind-altering substances (especially really “trippy” ones like LSD) but no way in hell would I ever be brave enough to try them, legal or not.

This thread is great, I live in Denver right now. The other day trying to get a 6 pack for the park we passed four different dispensaries before finding a liquor store. What’s this about it being illegal? Yay for everyone in support of legalization whether you would smoke or not.

It’s possible that it might trigger mental illness in some suspectibale people Jury is prolly really out on it. However, the reason I haven’t is b/c a) I have a brain difference (white matter of a baby) I do not want to induce psyosis or anything like that. and b) My body loves to self medicate. Loves pasta to try to medicate for depression.
Also, my sister in law is really screwed up with it. She wasn’t bad when I first met her…but all she does lately is smoke, and lie down on her bed for the entire day.

According to an article in this month’s Discover, weed might not have anything to do with schizophrenia at all. If they’re right, pumping yourself full of carcinogens (from weed or tobacco) is what triggers a latent genetic predisposition, and the psychoactive properties are just a red herring.

I tried cigarettes on a couple of occasions - it just made me cough. I didn’t get the appeal of tobacco, and I don’t get the appeal of pot. Not interested. Heck, booze is legal, and I very rarely imbibe in that.

Do it daily, will continue to do so. Function normally
I feel most people do not like it because they tried it once and didn’t like it. That is their problem. You have to do it more then once to build up the sense for it and appreciate the different types of high and flavors. It is grown for flavor, taste, concentration just like wine is.

I had it a few times back in the 60s, and it always gave me a headache. If legalized, I’d try it again, once . . . just to see whether it still give me a headache.

No, for me not smoking weed has nothing to do with it being illegal (or expensive - if I wanted to smoke for free every day I could, I have). I had my phase, a year or so of regular intoxication. It was fun, but it’s just not how I want to spend my time. And now I’m on a big health kick so it will probably never happen again.

For the 25 people who said the coppers are the only thing keeping them from getting baked off they ass, I just noticed the Google ads are hawking the synthetic stuff.

As legal as oregano in 46 states and they don’t have urine tests that detect it. Time to put yer money where yer mouth is.

I’m curious, too.

I did it in the past, but it was more of a social thing. Other people were around, etc. When I’m not around people who do it, I never find myself thinking about it. It becoming legal wouldn’t really mean that much to me–not something that’s a big part of my life.

depends, i don’t buy anything off the net I can’t see what the ingredients are, I would rather not kick off an allergy attack. I am allergic to mugwart and some allied plants, so need to avoid it and from what I could see at their site, japanese mugwart is mentioned as a component in one ‘spice blend’, and since they don’t mention any other ingredients anywhere, Ill pass.

I can wait for marijuana, or have a shot of vodka if I want to alter my reality.

Another asthmatic checking in - even second hand it gives me an attack, I can’t possibly see myself smoking anything, ever. Being unable to breathe properly really sucks.

Did my experimentation in college, and it’s not for me. If they’d legalize blow, though…

We would partake occasionally if it were legal. Not that we care overly much about The Man catching us, per se, but the idea of either of us being drug-tested at work is a deterrent.

More so, the illegality of it means hiding it from the kids. I can have a few drinks in front of them and be a model of a responsible adult. (Look kids, see Mom not driving because she had a few? See how she had a couple drinks but then switched to soda? etc) I can’t smoke up around them in the same way solely because it’s against the law. Other parents might find a way to rationalize around it, but I’d never be able to play the ‘do what I say, not what I do’ card about weed with a straight face. Too hypocritical.

Legalize it and we certainly wouldn’t be chronic, but we’d enjoy one weekend a month, maybe.

It’s not good at all. The taste is horrible. The buzz is not like any marijuana buzz I’ve ever had. It was incredibly harsh so I felt wheezy the next day. I think what I tried was “Spice” so I can’t speak for other varieties. I think it’s about to become illegal in TN if it’s not already anyway. I remember earlier this year they were trying to ban the sale.

Same here.
