I saw WEEN last night in Santa Cruz and they completely rocked! Almost three straight hours of hardcore ween-itude. It was my third time seeing them and definitely the best show I have seen them do. So I thought I’d do a bit of bragging and see if I can get some other Doper Ween fans to crawl out of the woodwork.
Highlights from the show included Touch My Tooter, one of the Stallion songs, Ocean Man, The Mollusk, Zoloft, the HIV song. They did a lot of stuff from The Pod and Pure Guava, which are not my favorite albums but come off brilliantly when done live.
They were playing as tight and loud as I have ever seen. The smoke machines were nearly constantly going. The crowd was doing its fair share of smoking, too. I got passed at least three joints. (Drugs are still bad, m’kay?) Everyone seemed very happy to be there. The place was packed for a Thursday night! Since it was their only bay area show, my friend and I drove over an hour to get there and over an hour to get home. That’s saying something about Ween, because I normally would never drive that far on a work night to see a concert.
I watched a girl freaking out outside the venue. It took three cops to take her down! There were some seriously smelly people in there, but I’m gonna blame Santa Cruz, not Ween for that. 
Anyway, I just wanted to give props to Gener and Deaner for the kick-ass show!!!
