Do you mean the hidden 18? The line is shorter. Other than that I don’t see anything special about the line once it’s been pasted in notepad.
Which puzzle was 18? Too many of these things blur together; remind me which it is and I can attempt to explain the connection.
It’s the one with all the blahblahblahs.
There’s a reason highlighting doesn’t work so well. Try highlighting one line at a time. Something will stand way out.
What poem? what level?
Thanks. I got it now. Why the hell was there a hidden number?
It’s not hidden. It’s just the goofy way the html/css was laid out for the page, the level number, although it appears at the top of the page, is actually near the bottom of the plain text.
That’s the one with the blahblahblahs, right?
If you highlight the whole thing, one word stands out
Giving it away–do not look at the bottom spoiler unless you want level 18 spoiled.
the word is “anyway”
I am stuck on level 49 … the clue says I am to paint the red door black - does anyone know if I need Photoshop for that or can it be done in Paint somehow?
It will work work paint. At least, it did for me.
ah, but if you put “images” in the URL like you’re supposed to, it works just fine.
Thank you for the info … sigh … I’m probably just too stupid to work this out properly, because all I manage to do is create a black square (used the bucket) and then stare at it until my eyes hurt. Gah! There goes my weekend.
That’s odd. It should be immediately clear. Maybe your version of paint doesn’t support some feature of PNG files that makes this one work.
If you can’t get it to work, try:
I’ve done the painting here:
http://myweb.stedwards.edu/mikem/sing.PNG
Thank you ever so humbly…I suspected as much - my Paint efforts never yielded any results. Now I finally can go on to other excruciating decoding failures (I’ll check back here with you next week or so :D)
Level 40.
Finally
Augggh! Level 41 is killing me! I understand the “Ack” sentence and the significance of the numbers but I can’t figure out what the heck the title means in relation to the rest of the page. All through levels 1-40 I’ve been
:mad: :o :smack:, usually in that order. I suspect that when I finally figure out 41, it’s going to be a double :smack: :smack: and maybe a little :eek: .
The title of the page doesn’t seem to have anything to do with it.
Run through all the words associated with what the numbers mean. The Ack! thing is a megaphone, but even now that I know it, it’s obscure.
If anyone has gotten that far, I think I need a big fat hint for Level 57.
I’ve got the ‘key’ from the source code, I’ve figured out that you need to do something to those symbols to get negative and positive numbers to deduct or add to the numerical values of the eygldijv. I got the exeizddo, which according to the forums over there is in the right direction, but there I sit for four days now. What more do I need to DO to those numbers?
Actually, it has everything to do with it
Break The NInJa son into words based on the capital letters.
Then figure out the ACK word to give a clue to what to do with the numbers
bigger hints:
Find the N in JASON. Interpteting the numbers properly will spell JASON from the 7th through 11th letters
This one was a pain in the butt and then it came to me.
Did you convert all the symbols in the key? 3 symbols in each group.
further…
notice there are 8 sets in the key and 8 letters in the code?
let me know if you need more.
OK, I am just not getting ‘real’ 45. I am sure that I am just not translating the right way, but I am stuck. This is what I have…
zs = 26+19 = 45
abcd = 1+2+3+4 = 10
ae = 1+5 = 6
dfnp = 4+6+14+16 = 40
cej = 3+5+10 = 18
bfi = 2+6+9 = 17
So I have got that the title is 45 and I have translated the rest of the letters to numbers in the same way. I would imagine that I would now have to translate the numbers back to letters. The obvious problem with this is that there are not 40 letters in the alphabet. So I tried wrapping around and starting at the beginning again so that a=27 etc. I tried /planets/jfnrq.html and /jfnrq.html to no avail.
I am sure that I will have a ‘DUH’ moment when I finally get it, but I am OK with that… that’s the way this whole thing has been going. Any hints?
At some point you have to stop translating and LOOK ALL THE WAY UP…
