Weffriddles. Maybe we can help each other out?

Speaking of level 57…

This is where I get the exeizddo from. I took the first number from the code to mean each letter and then used the other two symbols on the respective letter… But, as apparent, not leading to the correct answer (even if after an hour or so, I tried it again on the url, just to check).

(I went back to my notes for 45, but it must have come to me in a moment of inspiration. I have the correct answer written really dark next to the numbers/letters but I can’t see how I got it.)

you haven’t interpreted the code correctly.

Ha. It just re-occurred to me. And I understand why my notes were cryptic.

The numbers are all you need. You’ve done this a few times already.

Einmon: You’re real close though. You’re on the right track. In fact I change that from “you haven’t interpreted the code correctly” to “you aren’t applying the code correctly”

Son of a gun. That was one of the very first things I tried 3 days ago… but it didn’t work for some reason. Thanks, aktep.

DUH.

I’m on the 4th batch! I’m one tough level away from affixing maps to all of my walls and stringing yarn on thumbtacks a la A Beautiful Mind. Oy.

I would like my weekend back, Mr. Thoughts. scowl

Regarding #57

Naw, I need more!

Ok, obviously the interpretation of the second symbol is the problem here. A simple shift, means 1-0, 2-1, 3-2, which like Eimon, I read as 1st letter subtract 1 (letter), 2nd letter subtract 1, ect, which leads to exeizddo.
The source code says that it’s NOT a Caesar’s shift, which should mean that the numbers don’t all shift right or left a certain number of times. (and anyway, that’s all the information, how would you decide how much to shift?) Although, I tried a, left side of the keyboard, so shift right X number of times.
A shift on just the 2nd symbol one to the right, would be either = or +, both of which lead to more gibberish non-words, and also doesn’t lead to both negative and positive numbers, which I’ve gathered from forum posts is what you’re looking for.
Neither multiplying the numbers nor dividing them gives answers that make sense, in fact dividing leads to fractions which is useless in applying to the numerical/alphabet, but I’ve actually tried to make 1.5 of a ‘g’.
Does the number 8 have more application here other than the 8 sets of symbols=8 letters? Please tell me this isn’t base 8 application!

I gather this is hard to give hints for, but I need something!

[QUOTE=aktep]
Actually, it has everything to do with it

Break The NInJa son into words based on the capital letters.

Then figure out the ACK word to give a clue to what to do with the numbers

bigger hints:

Find the N in JASON. Interpteting the numbers properly will spell JASON from the 7th through 11th letters

Sorry, I misspoke, I meant the title of the picture, Friday the 13th, doesn’t seem to have anything to do with it.

Although, I figured out the Jason thing, it bothered me, because it never seemed to indicate WHICH one it was. I figured it out by putting each one of the words in, until one worked. I’m interested in your thought processes as to how you knew which word it was. This particular puzzle seemed imprecise to me.

You’re really close on the translation of the code. Ordinally, it shouldn’t be so difficult.

That’s the best I think I can do without flat out giving instructions.

Well,

(WARNING - TOTALLY GIVES THIS ONE (41) AWAY)

I recognized the numbers as the months, so I wrote out
JFM
AMJ
JAS
OND (I think the fact that I only wrote down first letters was a happy accident)

I had “JASON” on my mind from the big mask staring at me and saw it instantly in July-August-September-October-November stretch.

Obviously, “ACK! Row, NIMH” = acronym, and JASON is the acronym we were looking for.

Then I realized the title of the page The NInJa son was oddly capitalized for a reason…

“The N In Jason”. The N is November.

After experimenting with this for an hour I’m starting to feel like Neo without the blue pill sigh But I’m trying, I’m trying.

malkavia, you know where to find us if you need us (i.e. soundlessly* humming in front of our computers, rocking back and forth)

*at least most of the time

I didn’t make any typos in that spoiler, if it helps.

Maybe you should count the letters. In pen.

I’m still playing, but not to win and only on weekends (otherwise I get no sleep) - I’m holding on 31 - I’ve got the quote but don’t know what to make of it

There’s no quote on 31. Do you mean 32?

perhaps - it’s on thelongandtheshortofit.txt is that 32?

I see this now!!!

but…I STILL can’t see what it means! Now I have 7 letters and an extra number.
And I now know much more about ordinal numbers then I really needed to know. (ick advanced math, I think I got some on me…) Is just the first number an ordinal?
This is the first puzzle that makes me feel completely stupid.

Sorry, I’ve got a sinus infection, and my brain no workee too good. Level 32. What do you type into the address bar.

It’s not advanced math; by the time you got to the 8th grade, you’d experienced all the ordinal numbers you need.

You’re making it far too complicated. e-0 was a good start. y-1 is … incomplete.

Everything you need is on the page.

Yeah, that’s 32.

The file name is a big clue what do with it. Have a cup of coffee while you think it over.

It only took 2 word pages filled with letters and numbers until I looked at a sequence where I had written the letters in conjunction with the code, tilted my head and said

“Wait! If I apply the code to the left side, I probably should apply it to the right side as well!”

Thank you for the help, aktep!
