First off, it’s fucking bad enough that Flordia State is in the national championship, but then this fucking geezer (by college standards) wins the Heisman . . . BULL SHIT! I wouldn’t have any problem with it, if it wasn’t for the fact that:
-He’s 28 years old. That’s older than half of the starting QB’s in the NFL.
-He won the National Championship last year, he should have just left college early.
It was his fucking choice to go and play baseball for six years. The fact that he sucked and was unsuccessful was no one’s fault but his. Its fucking bullshit.
For the record, I wanted Brees (Purdue) to win, but I thought Heupel (Oklahoma) deserved it the most.
Where is the rule that you can’t win the Heisman if your over a certain age?
What does it matter that he’s older than half the starting QB’s in the NFL.
He should of just left college early?! A lot of people think that him going back to school to get a college education is quite admirable not to mention wise.
I think you have more of a problem with the school he attends rather than just the fact that he 28 years old.
Get over it.
Grow up.
Who gives a crap about the Heisman, anyway? I mean, really. The Heisman sucks. Nobody gives a shit.
It’s all wank-politics, and half those guys are never heard from again. I can’t remember the last time I saw a Heisman winner who was actually worth a rat’s ass in the NFL where it REALLY matters. And it’s not like actual scholarship (these are COLLEGES, remember) have anything to do with it.
PS: Good job, Weinke. You impressed a bunch of fat old mustachioed sportswriters, and no NFL team will touch you with a cane … it doesn’t get any better than this, props
PPS: If it wasn’t for that football gang of illiterate felons, FSU would still be just another girls’ school. Someday Bobby Bowden will be called to account for his crimes … Go Gators!
Uh, there’s no age requirement, because no one ever expected some fucking geriatric to be playing college football. Age does play a role in someone’s ability. I don’t think it’s all that admirable with Weinke, he obviously wasn’t real big on education those six years that he played baseball. I don’t think he really gives a shit now either. He said he wanted to win a National Championship, yeah, well, he did that last year, so he accomplished his goal, and he should’ve moved on.
Weinke beat out the previous oldest player to win (Simms, 23) by FIVE YEARS!!!
What big games did Weinke play in this year? The one against Miami? Oh yeah, he lost that one. Heupel beat three teams that were in the top 10 when Oklahoma beat them (10. Texas, 3. K-State, 1. Nebraska), and he beat them all in a row. The ACC is a terrible conference and FSU will dominate that bitch conference forever, since they have the pick of Florida and all the other teams suck shit (including Clemson).
You could have made that case for any of those guys.
Yeah Eddie George, Ricky Williams, and Charles Woodson all suck shit. Better rethink that one. George made it to the Super Bowl last year, I would think that “REALLY matters.”
I do agree that the Heisman certainly has been devalued ever since Andre Ware and Detmer won it back-to-back.
Face it, it’s bull shit that he won. I hope that sonofabitch gets a fucking asterisk next to his name. I also hope that he gets his ass handed to him on a silver platter by Oklahoma (who I hate) in the Orange Bowl. After that, I hope he doesn’t get drafted and ends up selling used cars near some swamp. Burn in hell you stupid fucking geezer Chris-fucking-Weinke.
Gee Dignan, thats an awful lot of venom directed at a guy who hasn’t done anything wrong. There are a lot of people going back to school after a prolonged absence, be it because of military service, deciding to work after high school or whatever. This guy just happens to be a good QB, and you wish for him to burn in hell? What has he ever done to you?
I think you should take some of your own advice, and move on.
Belligerence doesn’t suit you.
You are irate that a person won a politically determined award while playing a game as a student at a school because he was older than another student attending a different school (neither of which schools you seem to attend)?
To express your anger completely, you are now publicly expressing the desire that the award winner be humiliated in an upcoming game, spend his life at a thankless job, then spend eternity suffering the fires of hell for having had the audacity to have been selected by some other mindless drones who are only able to find work writing little stories about people who play games while in college?
Well, I didn’t have any certain “canidate” that was being considered so you’re wrong.
Your fucking responses are bullshit too. Go fuck yourselves. I was voicing an opinion. The OP was rarely addressed, mostly just “grow up.” Like I said, go fuck yourselves if you don’t have anything else to say. I could care less who won, it doesn’t have any effect on my life, future, etc. Ima just sayin’ that it’s I think it’s bullshit.
Uh, Dignan? Rants are much more enjoyable when they’re coherent.
The winner of the Heisman is voted for by sportwriters - why aren’t you mad at them? Or the Downtown Athletic Club of New York for not setting eligibility rules as you see fit? Or the NCAA for letting him play?
Never mind the fact that I find it more admirable to buck the trend of turning pro early to go back and finish a degree.
I kind of wanted Drew to win too, just because he stayed for all four years. I’m still a little sore about Peyton Manning getting ripped off (IMO). However (you knew there’d be a however), I think that Weinke was deserving of the trophy this year. Perhaps if Drew had had a better year, but the simple fact is that he didn’t. I think the end of the season demonstrated that Heupel was overrated. Because he was a throwing QB for Oklahoma, he caught a lot of people by surprise. Once the opponents knew that the Sooners could throw, he looked like an average QB.
Of course, you could always file an appeal for a recount.
SaintAlphonso, you are sp right about Heupel. I watched the last game of the regular season, and he was not a great QB. He consistently overthrew his receivers when they had man coverage. He scrambled ok, but he’s no McNabb.
OK everybody, I’M EXPRESSING MY OPINION, so you can’t disagree with what I’m about to say:
Dignan, I believe that you have problems with perspective. Being awarded a trophy is not, according to most major religions, ample causation for eternal damnation. Next, in my opinion you are one whacked motherfucker.
