"Weird Al" gives Pharrell the "Tacky" treatment

Oh. My. Lord.

I don’t know when I’ve been so pleased by a Weird Al parody.

I disliked the original with the heat of a thousand suns, because dangit, I was being manipulated by that chorus. Thanks for making me glad the original existed again, Al.

(Yes, I avoided using “happy” in this post.)

Word Crimes is a lot better than the first one.

You mean better than Blurred Lines, or better than Tacky?

I double-dog dare ya!

Both.

Anyone else catch the “you should hire / some cunning linguist” line?

Try this.

And this for “Word Crimes.”

Oh wow, those are fantastic! Great to see Al’s still got it!

“That really makes me want to literally smack a crowbar upside your stupid head.”

Brilliant.

If the rest of the album is half as good, he’s got another winner.

Thanks! Those were awesome

I loved “Word Crimes,” even if I don’t know the song it’s based on.

The album is Mandatory Fun. If you know the songs being parodied, it’s great. May be his best album of the last ten years.

The Robin Thicke song Blurred Lines

I look forward to the video for “Handy” - that is if it’s one of the eight. It should be. I had not heard of Iggy Azalea or her song “Fancy” that’s parodied on the album.

Sample lyrics:

Just embrace it, brother, she does something for me too. Can’t really figure it out either, but what the hey.

looks like he is adding a new video to his website everyday. Can’t wait for the video of Inactive. It’s a take on the song Radioactive by Imagine Dragons. Should be a fun video.

Quick aside - see her first appearance on NMTB. It doesn’t top Richard Ayoade’s ep but still funny.

As for Tacky - hilarious! Any idea who’s in the background when Schaal’s in the elevator?

Better than Tacky.

Agreed.

"Wierd Al has a big dictionary. "

Word Crimes is brilliant!

Word Crimes should be this board’s answer to all the new posters who come here writing in l337 or text speak. It can be our version of Rick Rolling, or Obligatory [XKCD][Simpsons][Whatever].
