Weirddave had a thread where he was making a creative joke about his pregnant wife getting “high”, meaning he purchased a new box spring so she would be elevated higher and wouldn’t get dizzy.
Cajun Man came in and closed the thread after some clueless people stated that they didn’t get the joke:
Well, fercrissakes! Just because someone doesn’t get the joke doesn’t mean it’s not funny. Cajun Man, there was no reference to drugs in this thread. It was HUMOR. People have blatantly referenced drug use in other threads and they didn’t get shut down. It wasn’t a misleading title thread. It was creative HUMOR. Get with the program already.
I agree but Cajun Man talked about rules and how Weirddave should know them. I was just saying that the only rule close to what he was talking about is a rule in GD or have more rules been posted somewhere that I don’t know about?
I would hope that people know enough of me after this long that they would know I’m not a dimwit. I am, in fact, quite anti-drug, and allergic to all forms of marijuana. Not to mention - PREGNANT.

Just chiming in. Occasionally I feel the Mods have been a bit too quick to close down threads, but I have previously always been able to see their point. Not so with this one. It was a joke. It didn’t need to be closed down. Good for Kalhoun for starting this thread. I’m not a real Pitter, but I had half a mind of commenting myself if she hadn’t beaten me to it.
Maybe EVERYONE doesn’t really know Weirddave all that well, or who he’s married to, and what she thinks of drugs. Would it have killed the joke to say “Yeah, that box spring really did the trick!” at the bottom of his OP? I think he was being just a bit too cute with the joke. Warnable offence? That’s a bit much.
Too bad Dave didn’t let everybody else in on his little joke at the end of his post and that other people had to 'splain it; that’s what makes it misleading.
We have always discouraged people giving their threads names designed merely to inflate posts and/or page views, designed to be inflammatory.
I’m glad Ginger is feeling better, that’s the main thing. But Dave knows better than this, too.
Inflammatory? Please… It was humor. Now maybe it wasn’t the funniest joke that’s ever been posted, but to the average doper, it was obvious. Whatever. I just think Cajun Man made waaaaaaaay too much of it. I know you mod types probably stick together on these things, but I’d like to know which others would have closed the thread.
