Is there *any* topic that's too TMI for the Dope?

I mean, people are always starting threads like “I woke up with oozing green genital warts that are preventing me from masturbating to pictures of shaved wallabies like I like to. Also, how many squares of toilet paper do you use when YOU wipe?”

Considering that I once started a thread about labial pimples that got a lot of responses, apparently not.

A big, oozing, dripping, exuding NO.

Keeping with the topic, what do you guys think of Microsoft’s ad for IE 8?

Note: there is on-screen puking.

Shaved wallabies?

Go classic, man. That’s where the hawt is.

Who among us is a member of NAMBLA?

Just make sure that you put TMI in the title, 'cause that’s only polite.

Some of our best threads have been TMI. For example, there’s Qadgop the Mercutan’s thread about his patient who had had some plastic surgery on his penis, which made it look like an appetizer. We might (and we have) make fun of Michael Jackson’s botched plastic surgery, but this guy REALLY had been messed up.

We also had a thread about pimples, and Broomstick shared a multi-post story about her experiences with a cyst, or abcess, or SOMETHING on her face. She won the thread.

Many of us are fascinated by Gross Stuff.

But yes, please do put TMI in the title. There are a few people who don’t like Gross Stuff, or who would prefer not to deal with it before breakfast.

I think that there are dopers who come here just for the gross stuff …

and dont forget spermy hijinks … and stuff like goatse and tubgirl

There was one, wasn’t there?

I’m guessing that someone who posted precise details of exactly what acts their incestuous bestialic sadistic pedophile parent committed with them when they were six years old in sufficent detail to amount to something that a incestuous bestialic sadistic pedophile would get off on, it would not end well. There are things even we wouldn’t want to know.

Wasn`t there a guy who wanted to have a thread about having sex with elves and deer that was deemed too much?

I don’t come here for the gross stuff at all and many of the gross threads, I never even read.

That being said, take for example the thread about labial pimples. That’s not exactly something you talk about in person! And yet it was quite a relief to know that it wasn’t just me, that it was a normal occurence, and I also learned some ways to deal with the pain, and how to deal with them in general.

Tonsil stones? Holy crap, LOTS of people have them, and better yet, lots of people are too squeamish to get them out, just like me. Sure, lots of people just take a pencil and jab them out, but there’s always people like me.

The slash fiction thread a few years back, while not as TMI, was a relevation, too. It’s all about unity and solidarity. It’s about knowing you are not the only one out there… I mean, it’s not much different from sci-fi or fantasy. In my real life I know very few people who read that stuff. On the Dope…well. And same with the other things. I would not ask my friend about labial pimples, for example.

Basically, there are other reasons for the gross threads than just grossness! But the poop threads I never read.

“So, as I was cleaning my dick off after sodomising the eight-year-old I keep chained in the basement I noticed that there was some green pus. I don’t think it came from me. Could he have an infection? I’d ask his mother, but I’m trying to avoid her at the moment.”

Somebody else out there likes shaved wallabies? God, all my life I’ve been afraid I was the only one. When I hear the line, “Watch me wallabies feed” in Tie Me Kangaroo, I get a raging hard-on.

I feel so much better knowing this is common. See, that’s why I keep posting here.

I bet it was the elves that took it over the top…

That’s medical advice, which is a BIG NO-NO!

Shodan

The idea of TMI appears to contradict the idea of FIS 1973.

If there’s a clear line of demarcation between sparking Wintergreen Lifesavers and how many squares of TP are necessary for an effective wipe, I fail to see it.

As best I can tell, there is not topic too TMI. Too likely to produce flames, pittings, and moral outrage, yes. Too TMI, no :-P.
