Weird Drawing by Slug (I acknowledge that's not very specific)

I have a question, but it relates more to a drawing by Slug than one of Cecil’s columns.

On p. 82 of The Straight Dope,* there’s a strange drawing by Slug. It shows a man, in profile, with a bowler, black jacket and tie, long pointy nose, looking up and holding out his arms.

Instead of the usual bi-pedal anatomy, he has 11 spindly supports, ending in little cubes.

As far as I can tell, there is absolutely no connexion between this drawing and the three columns on pp. 82 and 83 - how to unplug your ears on an elevator; whether there is enough skin on the average human being to make a coat; and whether sumo can pull their testicles up into their body.

What the heck is this drawing, and why is it there? (Okay, I guess that’s two questions.)

The picture relates to the skin/coat question. The question asks “How many square feet…” thus the picture of lots of “square feet”.

I’ve never posted a link before but…

Here’s the article (sans picture) mentioned in this thread.

genius! Thank you Swede Hollow - I never made that connexion!
