Am I the only one disappointed with Slug’s offering for the latest Straight Dope column? The question very clearly and specifically asks about naked ladies. Now, I have nothing against belly dancers (unfortunately… I might enjoy having certain portions of my anatomy against them), and in fact the belly-dancer in question is rather more attractive than Slug’s usual, but a lady in a belly-dancing outfit is not a naked lady. It’s most uncharacteristic of Mr. Signorino (if indeed that’s his real last name) to pass up a prime opportunity like this. Where’s the daring cartoonist who showed us a couple rutting while hooked up to pleasure-o-meters, or a woman ejaculating all over the living room floor? I know slugs have no backbone, but I thought that was only in the literal sense. Has he gone soft (and squishy and slimy) on us?
While we’re at it, the guy demonstrating the tune to the piano player looks nothing like Sol Bloom, and the description as to how he became boss of the Midway has been significantly simplified (for starters, he wasn’t the one originally hired to run it).
I like this Slug illustration. It has a lot of class.
I cannot think of a more effective dis of the man’s effort here than that statement.
Absolutely no disrespect intended.
“Class” and “Slug” are two words you don’t expect to hear in the same breath, unless “Gastropoda” is somehow implied.
It’s definitely tame compared to his usual work.
Doesn’t he draw bland versions of the more, um, exciting illustrations to give an alternative to papers who might want them? Could this be the bland version?
