Weird "Help Wanted" ad

A company has been running a “We’re hiring” ad for some months, and today, I called the number just to see what it was. The man answering the phone said simply “Midwest” and I replied, “Midwest what?” He said, “Just Midwest” and I answered, “Oh, I think I have a wrong number” and hung up.

Googling the phone number led me to a website featuring pictures of smiling young adults of multiple races in business attire, and it kept going on and on about what a fun place this is to work at and it has career advancement opportunities, but didn’t say what the company actually did.

Finally, I found a link implying that they want people to go to people’s homes and demonstrate cleaning products. :dubious: Um, no, I don’t think so.

Any time they don’t tell you what the position is, you can bet it will be cold calls to sell crap on commission.

Heh, I once saw an ad in the paper that said (and I shit you not): Wanted, positions for easy, lazy, do nothing job.

I thought to myself: Man, I’ll bet they’ll get the cream of the crop with that ad.

You good with vacuums? And people?

Watch it be digging ditches by hand or something similarly glamorous.
