Weird PMS symptoms that are not addressed by Midol et al?

Increased clumsiness, yes.
Increased sleepiness, yes.
Increased horniness, yes.
Increased cravings, yes. One word…pastries. ('Cause chocolate is just a given, every day.)

“I enjoy, being a girl.”

cravings, yes
diarrhea/constipation, yes
horniness, yes, yes, yes
clumsiness, not that I’ve noticed but now I’ll be watching

And while we are on the subject: I’ve been on the BC patch for over a year now. Everything is fine except my period comes during the third week, whili I’m still wearing a patch instead of the fourth, patch-free week. My doc says it’s fine, “all women are different”. But this didn’t happen on the pill. Has anyone had any experience with this?

Me too. I’m insatiable during the 2nd or 3rd day of my period. Too bad I’m so drugged up on painkillers during that time as well. It doesn’t matter though, I get so horny that I’ll do it despite the cramps and fatigue.

Fortunately my bf doesn’t get grossed out by anything, so we lay out a towel and have a good 'ol time.

Unbelievable horniness, combined with feeling really unattrative. Bummer of a combination.

And, oh yes, the eating. Food, food! FOOD!

This is eerily familiar, from a-z - mood swings from hell, longer periods, no sex drive. I won’t use hormonal contraception now unless I absolutely must for some reason. I know you’re supposed to try lots of different kinds, but I’m fed up with it. I even tried the Nuvaring and it still did this- it’s supposed to be a really low dose, and slow release. I was in hell when I was on it. Thanks, body.

Normal PMS symptoms for me include the ever lovely crying at the drop of a hat. I once cried my way through an episode of 21 Jump St.

I get the triple-bloat special…not only do I retain water, but I’m also unable to stop myself from eating anything deep-fried and salty i can get my hands on, adding yet more bloat, and on top of THAT, I get constipated the week before, no matter how much fiber I take in any form (ie, supplements or actual food)…

And Siege, I also get really horny…it’s a good thing that I have a boyfriend, because I’d be on my own that time of a month otherwise. Only someone who loves me would want to sleep with me when I’m bloated and constipated, with greasy fingers and face from whatever I last ate

This is probably due to hormanal issues, but I also feel the need to clean my apartment during PMS time…mess disgusts me far more at that time than at any other. I am far from organized, and usually dont’ care if my stuff is scattered, but when i’m about to get my period, i see mess and think, "OH MY GOD I’M A HORRIBLE PERSON!!! HOW CAN I LIVE LIKE THIS!! IF I DON’T CLEAN, MY LIFE WILL BE RUINED!!

I just had to chime in!

CLUMSY! If I am thinking of my time of the month, I purposefully only use plastic items. I can almost break a glass just by looking at it. It is truly bizarre, and entertains my mom and my sister (who don’t suffer from clumsies) to no end.

SEX! I get incredibly horny a few days beforehand… really, truly, MUST HAVE sex.

CHOCOLATE! Ok, well food in general. However, I can distinctly remember crying one night because I wanted chocolate so badly.

Yup, it is fun to be female.

cheeseaholic

my milk supply drops (I’m nursing)

I want to sleep all the time (though it is not as bad as highschool where I was alseep all day every day for nearly a week at a time)

Yes I end up with the co-ordination of an octopus with his feet asleep, but I’d never heard anyone else with that.

I had terrible diarhhea, and also usually get my cold sore on my lower lip. Nothing like all that to make me feel oh so pretty.

I had terrible terrible moodswings on one brand of pill. I was feeling lousy, my boyfriend left my dorm room to fill the kettle with water to make me some tea. He came back 3 minutes later and Im in tears "you’re always leaving me!"I got off those pills pronto!

Now I dont know what my cycle is going to do, I just got my “special moon time” back after having a baby last december, and I don’t seem to have PMS. On other hand, nothing in my life is normal right now, so its hard to tell.

Oh my…I have just been enlightened. I never put the clumsiness, the mind fog and the inability to complete a sentence without stumbling over my words on my own list of symptoms! :smack:

Since it is that special time of the month for me and I just read this post I just realized that it is generally this time of the month I start to wonder if I am going senile at an early age. Either that or crazy….

As for the others…
-Horny, check
-Salt and carbs, check
-Chocolate, check
-Mood swings, check (but luckily not every month!)
-Tiredness (can’t get enough sleep), check
-That intestinal crap, check

I must add, there is also a night a week or so prior where I cannot sleep. That sucks too…

Tiredness: Yes, about a week beforehand. It feels like I never wake beyond the point straight after hearing the alarm clock. It’s usually just the one day, but it’s horrible.

Moodswings: Yes, oh hell yes. Life’s just only half as good about a week and a half beforehand. I’m really happy that I know why, otherwise I’d feel so much worse.

I also tend to sweat a lot, but that’s during.

Can get a bit of the horniness but that happens towards the end of it.

The curious thing is that one or two days right before it all stops and I feel completely normal. Except that I think I must have miscalculated and am going mad. Then it ends up almost catching me out.

And while we are at it? Does anyone have any remedies for the moodswing part? Apart from taking it easy, being nice to yourself and try to make others do the same? Oh, and talking about it one a message board.

I’d cry too, if I had to sit through that show.

Muahaha. Well, yes. What can I say, hormonal teenage lust was at play.

I’ve noticed recently that as well as being sleepy, during my period I often have cold like symptoms, my nose runs like a tap. As soon as my period stops, my nose stops runnning too. WTF??

I get huge cravings for carbs also - mostly pasta, breakfast cereals and bread, which is really mean because bread really bloats me.

The other symptom is mood swings, ie downwards ones, never upwards! I cry a lot - I have put this down to the fact that my fiance and I are still long distance (only for another 5 weeks and then married and then living together thank God!), and that the missing him and sadness and frustration thats always underneath lurking somewhere just compounds the problem and I get very teary. The poor lamb is so good with me though and really does understand why I get like this because I’m a very positive person normally. I really do believe that this sadness will diminish once we move together though.

Luckily McDeath’s older sister had BAD pms - horrible mood swings - so compared to her I’m apparently a breeze …
