Minor issue in that it isn’t an “ee” sound. Beyond that, it is way too much to think about when I’m on holiday. I just found it interesting that names are routinely made longer, which goes against what we have generally in English.

I wouldn’t trust that link at all, not only are there misspellings, but also the -is ending is really not pronounced “ese”. So, for example “Godsaker” (nice things) became “Godis”, pronounced go-dis.

Although YahooAnswers is a crapshoot of a source your comment here is as bad as the YahooAnswers one when it comes to pronunciation. You need to “think in English” to get it. Look up words ending in “ese” in English and they will have a pronunciation given as “nēs”. A Swedish i is shorter than that, and just “is” would have been a better choice, but “go-dis” is not going to be reliably interpreted as something giving the correct Swedish pronunciation, especially not the “go” part.
