I used to have the college final nightmare. Recently I’ve had to fly around the US for various family emergencies and have had airport/flight dreams. Too late for my connecting flight, or showing up with no cash or credit cards.
I want to stay home now.
I have a dream every couple of weeks in which I’m packing luggage or making other preparations to return home. I can be at a friend’s house or a hotel room (last night’s dream had me at a B&B that was not lacking for floral decor), but the common theme is that I’m getting ready to go back home. I sometimes make it onto an airplane and land at my city’s airport, but the dream always ends before I actually make it home.
Interesting. Because I mis-read this as, “Weird Rectum Dreams”.
I used to have the student dream regularly. But for quite a while after I started teaching college, I would have a teacher’s version of it: It’s approaching the end of the semester and I realize that there’s a class I forgot to teach.
I used to have the college graduation dream (and before that, the junior high dream where I was naked from the waist down). Then I had a relationship breakdown, and all my nightmares where about that. I haven’t had the college graduation dream since.
Worst of all is the recurring combo anxiety dream.
I’m struggling to get all my stuff packed so I can drive halfway across the country just in time to register for college classes that I won’t attend, know the location of or do the work for, so I can stress out at exam time.
I blame the college nightmares on an actual experience in Bio 101, where I needed a massive last-minute effort including an all-nighter to pass the final.
