Spike, my four year-old, was playing with his pig astronaut the other day, singing:
My fly, fly, fly
Through the sky, sky, sky
oink-oink-oink
It’s a catchy tune that will not leave my head.

Nothing’s more embarrassing than getting caught singing to yourself, unless it’s an obscure TV show theme from the 60s.
Danger Man (“Secret Ayyy-gent Mannn”)
Rawhide… with whip sounds, of course
(Doesn’t help that I have a fellow teacher Roland that I sing this to loudly in the halls).
77 Sunset Strip
and, my go-to tune:
Coronet Bluuuue… deep inside my brain, I keep hearing that wild refrain… (worth listening to just for the bridge).
The theme song to “The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh”, despite the fact that I haven’t heard it in well over 25 years.
Lord knows why, but I have “Kiss the Girl” from Disney’s The Little Mermaid stuck in my head and will catch myself humming it from time to time. True, I probably saw that movie about a thousand times when my daughters were little, but that’s been a while, so I can’t explain why it’s still in my head. I wish it would go away.
For years now it’s been Russians by Sting. I have nothing against the song - it’s nice (Prokofiev liked the melody well enough) but it’s certainly not a special favourite of mine.
The only reason I can think of for it coming back all the time is that it matches my stride when I’m walking. I think I get that ear worm more often when I walk a lot.
I like to whistle Grieg’s “In The Hall of the Montain King” (from Per Gynt).
I know-Peter Lorre whistled the same tune in “M”-he was a child murderer.
BumbleBee Tuna jingle.
We used to run from Prinyer’s Cove to a tiny little island off Amherst Island to fish with friends [who were actually commercial fishermen, and worked on weekends as fishing guides. They really knew all the best spots =) ] and at the speed the boat went, it slapped the water at the same beat as the jingle. One of the kids of the guides started singing the jingle, and it just stuck in my head from probably 68 or 69 [?] and every now and then it sort of creeps out, especially if I am doing something rythmic.
At least I like canned tuna as salad or in casserole.
Secret Agent Man, by The Toledo Polkamotion.
You’re welcome
Every once in a while I’ll have a week where I have “Feliz Navidad” running through my head. No idea why.
I’m going to be singing this to every tune I can now. On a side note, why didn’t I ever have a pig astronaut?
“Shpadoinkal”, from Cannibal: The Musical.
“The sky is blue and all the leaves are green!
My heart’s as big as a baked potato!
I think you know exactly what I mean
When I say it’s a shpadoinkal day!”
This thread makes me feel good for some reason.
Just try not to hum it, I dare ya.
With apologies for the hijack…
Feist’s “1 2 3 4” was used in an Apple commercial; you can hear it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pYMZKVZ9Ws
She also performed a version on Sesame street, which you can see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZ9WiuJPnNA
I’m a pretty good agnostic/pagan, who doesn’t give a whit about people’s religions .
I keep finding myself humming “Prepare ye the way of the lord” from Godspell.
Its almost as bad as “Copacabana” for earworm state.
I am absolutely notorious for always having one song or another in my head.
Today’s songs were “Open the Door, Richard” (someone was holding a door for me),“I Wanna Buy Me a Condo” (no idea why) and “Besame Mucho” (I crossed Bessemer Street. This is pretty much a daily thing).
I get “Notorious” in my head every time I hear/read it.
I hate to admit this, lest the gods of musical taste banish me to the wastelands, where there is wailing and gnashing of teeth and Justin Bieber, but that’s a really catchy tune that I rather like.
I sometimes sing Monty Python’s “Drunken Philosopher Song” in the bathroom in the morning.
I wake up every single day with a song in my head. Nothing interesting lately, though, just the pop music that is played CONSTANTLY at work. (Why do radio stations play the same 20 songs over and over? It’s boring as hell even if you DO like it)
I, however, have no idea what this morning’s song was, as I now have the ‘1,2,3 4’ song stuck in there, thanks!
I’ll update tomorrow if I wake up with it.
I had my Lumberjack Song days.
