What was the last tune you whistled or hummed?

What was the last song you remember whistling or humming, independent of any music being played?
This morning I found myself whistling the music to the Buckaroo Banzai end credits strut.

You?

I happened to be whistling the theme from “The Great Escape” when I spotted this thread. Probably because I’m just finishing work.

As I’m posting, “Rain,” by The Beatles. It’s mentioned in some other thread.

I used to hum along with the Morning Edition theme, until this idiotic ringtone version came along.

Does drumming on the steering wheel to the theme of Marketplace count? I did that last night.

This:

Humming and whistling only, and independent of anything being played in the background.

Whistling, or humming?

Fair enough. While I was posting to another thread just now, I was humming Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors,” and it occurred to me that now I had a better answer anyway.

Driving to work this morning I whistled the theme song from The Andy Griffith show. Rocco, our African Grey gets worked up when he hears the tune. He has whistled parts of it, but never the entire song.
Here’s a Grey whistling the song.

Alternatively humming and (very badly) singing.

The Dreamers, Sweet Disaster. Alternately humming, singing, or just stuck in my head.

This is one of my ever-present ear worms.

“Abdul Abulbul Amir.”

I had the Frank Crumit version in mind (a major gramophone hit in 1928), but was recently surprised to learn that it dates back to 1877, and the Russo-Turkish War. And that there are many, many “naughty” versions, which are popular at rugby clubs.

How will this thread affect our amateur status?

Cool Whalin’ by Babs Gonzales.

Every time I listen to Babs the stuff gets stuck in my head for days.

‘Georgia on my mind’, not sure the last time I heard it. But out of the blue I was whistling it. The cats were not amused.

Whose version, though? I like Willie’s cover. And then there’s Boz Scaggs song Georgia, another graet one.

Whistling Cuddly Toy by the Monkees…song’s stuck pretty firmly in my head, of late.

(My last earworm was actually Baby Shark (thank you, Litterbox Comics, grumblemutter), but I actually sang that, not whistled.)

Possession by Elvis Costello and the Attractions, from the Get Happy album. Don’t know why, but it popped up in my mind today and I whistled the great bass part. I also had the thought that the melody of the song reminded me of church hymns.
