I’m originally from the Ozarks and I follow the news stations down there on my Facebook. This is turning out to be one of the weirdest murder cases I’ve ever heard. This article is a pretty good overview:
Mother concocts scam faking her daughter’s disabilities over multiple years.
Collects thousands from charities, communities, government assistance, etc.
Daughter, much older than portrayed, finally get’s fed up.
She and her online boyfriend conspire to murder her mom and get away with lots of cash.
Only half of their plan works, mom’s dead, but they are both in custody awaiting the death penalty.
While strange, not that weird of a murder case.
A friend’s brother went through a similar situation with his wife. Her father claimed she and her daughter were mentally disabled so he could receive support money from the government. The old bastard is dead now, but it’s apparent when talking with the daughter that she led a very sheltered life.
Weird enough for me. Most of the murder cases I hear about are much simpler, and don’t involve the person being shot for fraud.
…or schadenfreude…
…well, ok… maybe sometimes…
