weirdos?

Most of them are just the different forums here.

Here is a good start.

peculiar hailstone, too bad you didn’t show up a little earlier - ya coulda signed up for a little less.

Nevertheless, there are solutions. Don’t you have a credit card? All you need is $15 bucks free on it (not that I’m suggesting further debt, but . . . ). Your credit rating comes up when you try to get new cards or buy houses or cars - not when you make purchases. Make a payment (as you should be anyway) and then charge it.

Or ask around. If you continue to seem interesting and not stupid, you’ll probably find someone who’ll take your word for it and pay while you mail them a check. Folks without credit cards were doing that during the migration to the pay model. Or, if you’re a particularly worthwhile contributor to the boards and money is tight, someone probably would be willing to sponsor you, in exchange for your mortal soul and so on.

If you want, drop me an email at siefertd@msu.edu and, assuming you act nice until your guest month runs out, I’ll be willing to sponsor you myself. (Or, if money itself isn’t the issue, subscribe you in exchange for a check.)

Just in case anyone was thinking about taking financial advise from a thread about weird sexual fetishes: this is wrong. Your credit score goes down (as in it is negatively affected) when you do those things.

Hmm, I think I was unclear. I dunno exactly how worried hailstone here is about his or her credit rating, and charging things on a very full credit card is not a good idea.

As for the above quote, I meant “comes up” as in “becomes an issue”, not “improves”. Your credit rating doesn’t matter at all when you’re just making a small credit card purchase - just the balance. Your credit rating is, however, a matter for concern when you’re applying for MORE credit, in the form of a car loan, mortgage, or more credit cards.

At any rate, if your credit IS a particular concern at the present, no, don’t make any purchases, and pay your card to below 80% of its limit asap. (That’s the magic number, right?)

Nope. It’s 30% .

You pay up or lose your priviliges.
