I’m now at 5 Incarnate Level 50’s, and one Level 45. I might have to make some new toons soon.
Welcome back, LE!

Ha, I interviewed for a cooking job at the Rail Station a few years ago (2014). Didn’t get it. The restaurant hadn’t opened yet - the owner/chef is the same guy that owned the previous restaurant in the same location, and he’d shut it down and was remodeling to reopen with a new name and concept. He’d forgotten I was coming, so I had to go looking for him, and I caught him just as he was about to get in his car. The interview was mostly 45 minutes of him talking about himself (including him warning me that he’s an asshole).
Didn’t get the job, but now I work right next door at the Wenatchee Convention Center. I worked there 2006-2013, left for a couple years to cook in a retirement home, then came back in 2015 and have remained there. I have a coworker who cooked briefly at the Rail Station, and he confirmed the “asshole” bit for me ![]()
Oh well, at least the food and service is good.
For anybody who hasn’t heard about it yet, Homecoming has formed a Folding@Home team to help with coronavirus research:
I’ve got it up and running on my PC, and since my old iMac has been sitting here doing nothing, I went ahead and got F@H going on that machine as well.
Well, it’s been a year since the Homecoming servers went public and they’re still up. Graphics are dated but the gameplay is as awesome as ever.
I’ve found some time to play again. I’m working my way through all the Ouroboros missions. Those let you time-travel back to mission arcs you missed while leveling up. Great way to see all the game! And you earn Incarnate experience while doing them.
Wait, all of the flashback arcs? I hope you have a lot more than “some” time.
You get the most incarnate stuff from incarnate content like Dark Astoria. My controller is my second character to get full-tier-4 incarnates, despite four others having more veteran levels than him, plus hand-me-down empyrean merits from my first incarnate. Near as I can tell, it’s mostly just because he’s done the entire Dark Astoria storyline.
I’m not in any rush. The Flashbacks are basically the “Best Of” series of CoH, so they’re a lot of fun to do. And they’re easy, which means I can pop on, do a mission, then log off. (Maybe easy isn’t the right word–I did respect to make sure I have a viable build at every level.)
I’m up to the level 15 missions. They’ve taken me to about 50% in Tier Three Incarnate powers, without having done any Incarnate content other than the opening story arc. I’ll worry about that when I get there, if I ever do.
I’ll sometimes explore instead of a mission. Pick a zone, get all the badges, read all the plaques.
Oh, to any badge hounds, the anniversary badges are available again for the next couple weeks.
And the worst-of series, and the middlest-of. There’s precious little that’s not available through flashback.
How do you get the anniversary badges?
I think you just log in in the month of May, right?
Logging in during the month of May 2020 automatically grants a character the 16th anniversary badge, titled Resurgent, and must be done separately for each character. Along with Resurgent, the character gets 5 charges of the Experienced temp power. Luna the fairy, in the Ouroboros zone, offers the previous 15 anniversary badges for 100 merits each. Expensive, but the badgers (like me!) will pay it. I can’t recall if Luna offers them year-round or just during the anniversary month.
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen the badges available from Luna before.
tripthicket, are you a member of C.E.C.I.L.? I don’t think I’ve seen you in-game.
No, not a member, although that’s no reflection on C.E.C.I.L., of course. I played from June 2006 until the last day, way back when. Have been playing on the Homecoming servers for just over a year now. I mostly play solo or on PUGs, and the occasional Mothership Raid. Not a member of any supergroup save my own, with a base for storage and transporters.
I’ve long lurked here on the Dope (2003? dun remember), had been aware of this thread, but only look at it every few months or so, and haven’t read the whole thing. I will do so today, to see what C.E.C.I.L. is all about.
As for seeing me in-game, I play just about every day, on two servers, but I have very severe alt-itis. A year of play has produced only 6 or 7 50s, seldom played. I think in March there was a stretch where I was making a new character every day; once or twice I made TWO in a day! Being retired, and loving this game, I have lots of time and passion. ![]()
Heck, my alt-itis isn’t nearly that bad (I think 15ish characters?), and I still only have five 50s.
Just started playing a couple weeks ago on the Torchbearer server. I’m having fun, even though I still take a minute to find locations on the map. I get lost easily irl too.
My main is a tanker named Brickface. I’m glad I don’t have to worry about DPS. As long as the mobs beat on me while my group buddies blast them, I’m happy.
Glad to see new people discovering the game too, not just us old-timers… ![]()
Spotted in late-night General chat:
" Rikti Astley. Denial: Give you up. Negative: Let you down…"
Very nice. Always love the humor and creativity we get on CoH.
That had to have been from Risa Beedam, right? She’s always singing in Rikti.
Last night, I was on my baby villain (level 9 at the time), and asked in LFG if there was a red DFB forming. Instead, I got invited to some level 50 Snake thing, and holy Hell, that was some insane XP. In less time than a single DFB, I ended up hitting 16, and at one point, I literally had triple-stacked inspirations from leveling.
I don’t recall who it was, but they said their friend has that entire song translated into Rikti grammar, and likes to break it out durin MSRs.
Saturday the 9th was my first birthday in Homecoming! At least Flaminatrix’s info says she was rolled on May 9, 2019. I swear it was a bit later than that, like the 18th. I seem to recall that I got signed up for Homecoming three days before my WoW sub was set to expire on the 21st, and I just let the WoW sub go like a hot potato. Perhaps the date got messed up when I transferred all of my existing characters over to Everlasting from Reunion, though my main villain, Bruised Violet, shows she was rolled on the 10th, one day after Flaminatrix, which would be correct (the one day later part, not necessarily the specific date).
I dropped out of the guild yesterday. Good hunting, y’all.
