I’m sure he has plenty of stories to tell about both of us (I’m his mom), but he just went to bed. On his own, without being told. I had forgotten it was a school night. Such a good kid.
I’ll make sure he drops by to say hello and let you know when he gets home from school.
By the way, you’ve met him…back in 2007 at a Dopefest in San Francisco, at The Chieftan if I recall correctly. He was the 9-year-old kid who spent the better part of the evening at a nearby table chatting up girls
Well, it may be just a few days before the Kiddo can pop in and say hello…we’re having to balance “be polite and greet the folks that have stopped in to welcome you” with “since you can’t manage to turn in your assignments, you aren’t allowed on the computer”.
I’m sure we’ll get things sorted out in short order.
Spelling counts on the SDMB. We’re not into txt or chatspeak here, we like to read full sentences with proper punctuation and at least a good attempt at correct grammar. Mistakes are okay, but if u p0st lk tHz, you’re going to get made fun of.
If you see a thread or post with TMI in the title, it’s probably going to be gross, and may contain sex related stuff that will make your parents blush if they know you read it. But not everything gross or “adult” is labelled, so click at your own risk. (I assume your folks have already discussed this when they decided to get you a username, but you should know, too.) We don’t have a lot of people under 20 on the board, and we won’t censor ourselves or talk down to you.
The SDMB doesn’t allow one person to have more than one account, and they don’t delete posts just because you decide later you wish you hadn’t posted what you did. So, just like the rest of the internet, remember that not only your parents, but your teachers, your future employers, your current or future girl/boyfriends and Og (that’s what we sometimes call “god” around here) and everyone will be able to read it. It won’t go away. Think before you post: is this something I would let Grandma read?
Otherwise, have fun! There are a lot of people who know a lot of stuff around here, and we have a lot of good conversations…some of them about important things, and some of them about silly things. Whenever you feel like it, jump right in!
Thank you all for your warm welcomes. I do have some funny and embarrassing stories about my parents, but i wont tell them because I would like to play my video games again before I turn 18.
Welcome,** Ledzepkid**! As soon as I read the OP, I thought, “Hey, wasn’t that the kid I met at the San Francisco Dopefest?” I think I was sitting across from you at the table before you wandered off to pursue other interests. I’m glad to see that we didn’t turn you off the Dope completely.
