Add my congratulations to the heap up above. And I have to ask – what’s that crazy wimple she’s wearing in the older photo?
Congratulations!
Benjamin Franklin’s receipe was to keep your eyes wide open before marriage, and half shut afterwards.
That wimple was a hat with a turned down brim.
Are those aviator wings above your left breast pocket?
Woo, so do I!
Seriously though, you two are a great-looking couple then and now, and hearty congratulations to you both. I can only hope my husband and I will be together for as long.
Add me in with the congratulations, that is some serious commitment – and a fine looking couple you make in both pics, Sir. Cheers!
A.R. Cane: IIRC, Simmons flew medium bombers in the European Theater.
Congratulations, so very wonderful to have that longevity!
What’s the most strange thing y’all have seen come to pass in these-a-days?
Honestly, I want to know, because the world seems so very speeded up to my 45 year old self, and I likeyo hear the perspective of wiser people.
Yup. I was a brand new 2nd Lieutenant having been graduated from the aviation cadet program five days previously.
I’ll have to think about this a little. Right now I really can’t think of anything I would call strange. The present seems to have arisen reasonably out of the past at every stage along the way.
I’m highly impressed. Congrats. You’re a great couple.
I’m determined to try to restore respect for the seniors in our society, and you’re one of the many reasons why.
Congrats to the OP - 63 years of marriage is one hell of an achievement.
I agree with the general sentiment, but I can see a real problem with your specific case. Why should the youth of tomorrow have to like you any more than your contempories of today
63 years!
With the same person?
I gots to know one thing (and you can ask your wife this:) Are you trained yet?
I love the newlywed picture of the two of you. It looks like she has some kind of thumb cracking grip on you, boy and you aren’t exactly fighting it.
Congrats!
Why, you cheeky young… er I mean… get off my lawn.
Many congratulations to both of you! What a great-looking couple you are!
Congratulations David. That is a wonderfully cheering post.
And here’s to many more happy years down the drain.
I’ll just resurrect this long enough to thank everyone for their comments.
“Some say” that writer Ring Lardner had a little sign on his desk reading: “The years slip by easily. It’s the days that are tough.”
