Well I never learn? I upgraded my dish network to include more movie channels. All part of a promotion by dish network. I figured what the hell, they wouldn’t all be gems but I would get to see a few classics and maybe a sleeper or two. But nooooo…here is what is slated for tonight on the TMC, Encore, Action and a couple of more channels included on the upgrade.
Haley Wagner Star ( What the fuck?)
Once upon a crime ( What the fuck?)
Looking for Lola ( seems vaguely familiar)
A Fine Romance ( I would rather have a cold carrot up my ass than watch this one.)
Managua (I got your Managua right here)
Hitman ( Yeh and I’m the fucking victim)
Belly ( Huh?) ( here is the satellite info on this tubid endeavour: * Nas, DMX and Taral Hicks star. Two young men involved in organized crime and drug dealing find that their priorities differ.* ( Jeezzz positively riveting doesn’t it?)
The Spitfire Grill ( Just a guess but I bet this would suck a bowling ball through a drainpipe)
SuperCop 2 ( HA! Shit I don’t even want to see SuperCop 1!)
American History X ( By all that’s holy I am not even going to read the satellite info on this one)
The Color Purple ( I would rather stand in the shower buck naked and tear up twenties than watch Opre flounder around in this one again)
Funny Farm starring Chevy Chase (place the sound of a screaming bomb followed by an explosion here)
Twin Dragons ( ohhhhh your kung fu is strong pond skipper!)
There are more but I won’t list them. I’m dialing dish network right now.
When I got my Dish Network last month, they gave me all the channels (premium and all) free for three months. I’ve seen the same movie playing on four channels at the same time. What gives? Like there aren’t enough movies in the world that they can play a different one? Today they had Lean on Me on three channels, but hey, one of them was in Spanish so at least I got a good laugh out of the translation.
I think I’ll just go to bed, I can dream better than this.
Ugh! Sorry to disagree, AuntiePam, but I found the Spitfire Grill well nigh unwatchable. Even my wife disliked it by the end. If there were a vomit smiley, I would award it 3 out of a possible 5. It was pat, it was poorly written (although moderately well-acted), it was . . . hmm, trying to come up with the right word here . . . ah, here it is: bad. Blech. Ah - having reread the post, I see that Montfort has found exactly the right word. Thanks.
And I completely agree with Coldfire and absoul - American History X is excellent.
SuperCop and SuperCop 2 are both Jackie Chan films from Hong Kong, and both are excellent. (These were before he started filming movies about the Bronx in Toronto.)
Actually, Supercop 2 isn’t half bad. A bit more than not half bad, really. It’s a Michelle Yeoh vehicle, a sequel to SuperCop 1, which was a Jackie Chan movie.
Michelle Yeoh is really quite good, and she can actually act. She crossed over here in a Bond movie, the one with Teri Hatcher, she played the chinese agent.
American History X is about two brothers, I think, and one is a former skinhead, and the younger one is starting to become one…Ed Norton and Edward Furlong (blech! the kid from T2) are in it.
