Just noticed the little cake icon next to my name and went searching. It appears that 19 years ago I decided to join. Can it really be that long ago? Damn I’m gettin’ old …
I know I’m not a huge contributor, but I’m damned glad for this place.

Congratulations! Nice to get cake when not expecting it (even if it’s only virtual)!
This made me go look mine up - apparently I joined June 28, so my joinaversary is coming up. I’ll hit 26 years on the Dope this year.
That’s…close to exactly half my life I’ve been a member.
I joined in 2003 and I’m 70, so I’ve been here for a tad less than 1/3 of my life. I just did the calculations, and I’ll have to keep posting here until I’m 96 in 2051 to have been a Doper for half my life.
My dad turned 97 earlier this month, and my mother made it to 95, so I may have a chance.
Post twice as much and double your years. ![]()
They do it in prisons, it’s called “good time”. That’s seems nice(not that I wanna be in prison, but you understand).
I just got a replacement for my debit card. Expires 2030.
Kinda gives me hope. They believe I might live that long. Maybe I can. ![]()
Happy Doperversary. Anywhoo.
I weirdly recall many, many years ago when I renewed my New Yorker subscription for four years instead of the usual one year. I specifically remember seeing the expired date on the label, which read 1997. And I specifically remember thinking that that date seemed to be so, so far into the future. Like, flying cars far.
mmm
