… and i just heard that the national margin is now around 19000… shit.
It is closer to about 1000 votes. They are saying that Gore won the popular vote, which still dosen’t matter unless he takes Florida. I suspect some Jeb Bush tampering. It seems so obvious. Why else would Bush have been so sure of himself last night? I live in Florida and there was a report of “missing” voter boxes for awhile, they were found apparently but they makes you wonder right? How hard would it be for Jeb to set up some voter fraud? Not hard! Al it takes is money, something the Bush family has allot of.
Yeah, I guess the whole country going to hell. Life as we know it is over. Run away. Run away.
sheesh
Um, did you not noticed that every time they talked to representatives of either campaign, after every negative turn of events for that campaign, the person went on and on about how “we’re sure that we’ll come through in the end. We know that the people of [insert state] will be with us because of [party policy]. Our opponents think they have it, but it’s just not going to happen.”
It’s called sounding self-assured, not forcasting victory on fraud.
They said they were sure when talking specifically about Florida!! Which is run by a Bush, do you not see the connection?
What the heck do you expect Jeb to say, “You know Dan, I really think we lost the state.”?? It’s called posturing. The reason they felt confident was that the early projections toward Gore were based on admitted mistakes from the voting service. Seems there were some input errors as well as premature projections.
Nothing untoward at all. It’s not like they tried to get some judge to keep the Republican-leaning Talahassee area polls open while closing down the rest of the state. Now, that would have been bad.
Did you listen to coverage? They (both sides) said they (both sides) were sure about any state about which they (both sides) were asked. Yes, including Florida. Upset because they maintained it after the media first (prematurely) called Florida? Well, Tom Ridge assured them that Pennsylvania would flip back Republican after the media called that one, and Bush lost there by 4%. Where does this fit into the conspiracy?
What I see is someone eager to call fraud; the loser will do it no matter who ends up winning. The Democrats just have an easier excuse. “His brother is governer and it’s a close race” does not, however, mean “his brother fixed the election”.
I was talking about the voting service contracted by the media outlets to make projections, not the polling areas themselves. The media connection broke down, not the ballot-casting.
Can we please refrain from titling our threads like this? I hear enough projecting and hypothesis on the TV and radio, I see this and thought maybe something new turned up. That article you link to is about Congress, why mislead with a title about the President?
Easy, Crunchy Frog, I think the info in the link in the OP has been changed since this thread was started in the wee hours this morning.
I live in Florida, and I was just rereading an article that ran in our student newspaper on Monday.
Part of the story focused on how apathetic some college students were about voting. An 18-year-old who never registered was quoted as saying, “who knows if my vote would have made a difference anyway.”
::sigh::
I have an application for residency in Canada on disk. With me. Anyone know how bad the teacher shortage is over there? I could always go to France to teach English . . . hell, I’m going to major in English and minor in French.
Down boy! Down! Turns out it’s not a static page… at the time I made the OP, it was an article regarding CNN’s projection that Bush had swept Florida and won.
A bit touchy, are we?
