Boy, am I exhausted. After seeing a few episodes in syndication, I finally decided to get around to watching it. I was only planning on watching a few episodes a day, but boy, did that not work out. I’m normally not a fan of multi-camera laugh track sitcoms, but holy crap is this a funny show.
And now I’m really annoyed that I have to wait a week to see ONE episode. Especially since I just ended on a down note.
I’ve been watching for a couple of years, but I missed the first year, so I bought the dvd set. Funnily enough, I just started watching them last night. Now I know how Barney got into the group - he just showed up and wouldn’t leave. Very Barney.
I see that they haven’t left the gimmick of having Ted tell his kids how he met their mother, but they have really toned it down. Man, that is the longest anecdote in the history of anecdotes!
Amazing show with many things going for it, but I think my favorite is how inventive they get with the storytelling. It seems like half the episodes have some interesting twist on how the narrative is delivered.
Forgot to mention, I think “The Pineapple Incident” episode deserves to be mentioned up there with the best episodes of a sitcom.
I like the show, but one minor nitpick I noticed recently is that Ted, Marshall and Lily are all supposed to be Wesleyan graduates, but as far as I can tell, Wesleyan doesn’t have an architecture program.
Ted is from Ohio. And Future Ted does make up stuff as well as mis-remembering some things from time to time, but that’s always part of the plot, rather than being a mistake.
