Well, it's Summer.

Loving the Pacific Northwest these days. Mid 60s today (maybe a fire tonight in the fireplace), but the rest of the week will be sunny and in the 70s.

But this is the rainy season in Arizona. I have seen it. Sometimes the rain even hits the ground.

Yeah, it’s the beginning of the monsoon season, too. Probability of flash flooding.

“Don’t drive around the barricades, people.”

And there’re always be idiots who have to be rescued from their cars.

And when the rain lets up, an hour or two later, you get a nice haboob.

I read that some flights were cancelled in Arizona today because of the extreme heat. That’s a new one for me. Here they get cancelled for ice and snow.

Yeah, they’ve done it before. I remember hearing about it a few years back. I think it’s somewhere around 118 degrees that things can get a little dicey, although Phoenix seems to have longer runways to help accommodate for the less dense air when it gets that hot. Perhaps one of our aviation experts can chime in.

“Official”, yeah right. The NWS has been doing summer for 21 days already.

Try living a few degrees further south in actual tropical humidity. Although it tends to be cooler this time of year, during the rainy season, since clouds obscure the sun most days.
