Well my wedding WAS going to be on TV...

We were contacted by a producer doing some series in which they were showing unusual weddings and they wanted permission to use two clips from our wedding. We arranged payment details, the videographer sent them video, and we’d signed appearance releases and everything but then we were told that the episode that contained our clips (among others) had been pulled. I guess it could still theoretically happen, but chances are slim at this point. Oh well! It would have been neat.

Bummer!

What was unusual about your wedding?

I wanna know, too!

Lots of things were, but the things they were going to show were the part during the ceremony where we juggled and the part where we updated our facebook statuses (about 6 months before that couple that got on the news)

A Roomba ring-bearer? Your geek level just shot through the roof!

If it makes you feel any better, a few months ago I thought I was going to be on TV. A cupcake boutique near me, where I’m a regular, was featured on, I think, Good Eats (something Eats, anyway). The shop announced this ahead of time and said to come on down and we might get on camera. I went on down, gushed about how creative the bakers are, and got my truffle for free. Guess who got on the show? Debi Mazar. Saying the same thing I did, almost word for word. But she has her own show and I don’t. The random-customer quotes were all along the lines of “Mmmm!” and “I bring these to work meetings!” I guess only famous people get to sound smart.

Then your boyfriend met that Kate Middleton whore and the next thing you know there are news crews everywhere. Oldest story in the book.

Didn’t he look dashing in his little bow-tie?

Would have been cuter to have the flower girl first and the rhoomba sucking up the petals … but still excellent. [and the maid of honor with the tattoos on her shoulders, they worked very decoratively with the style of dress =) ]

I’m not sure if it has anything to do with the possible show, but your “First Dance” video is blocked due to EMI. At least in “My country”, which is the US.

Arg. I’ll have to host that one on my website then. Thanks for telling me.

What’s the story with the facebook statuses and why is updating them unusual?

Well, the officiant said “you may kiss the bride as soon as you’ve updated your facebook profiles” and handed us each our phone on the spot. We updated, handed them back, and kissed. It’s pretty unusual to have that as part of the ceremony.

Did you still get paid?

No, we only get paid if the clips are aired.
