The recent wave of flaps over college speech make me think that if the Islamophobe paranoia somehow starts to wane, it would be a very easy thing to turn all that hysteria and harassment against liberal groups and organizations. Registering the wrong people to vote in Mississippi could get you killed all over again. Maybe in North Carolina and Kansas too.
I have already been killed at least three times. Not fun. I would not want to be killed all over again.
You mean the conservatives would suddenly do the same thing they are condemning “liberals” for doing? Surely not!
Between the alt rights and the Nazis and the klan types and the militias and the “sovereigns” and the far right nutjobs and the anti-govt and the white supremacists and the white nationalists, they’ve been jabbering about second amendment solutions, civil wars, and shooting “the other” for years. And, we have had several of them go off the rails and actually try something.
Would anyone be surprised???

SteveG1, you left off the Bundy Ranch standoff (0 killed) and the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge occupation (0 killed). While there were no deaths, violence was a huge part both situations.
Best to stick to listing situations where death was involved, lest the right list all manner of BLM and other “liberal” protests as violence against them.
Good point. I withdraw my examples.
It’s all moot if they remember that the Pentagon considered protests to be “low level terrorism” when Duhbya was in office.
Two things.
These were multi-day armed standoffs with law enforcement and other govt officials. Bit different from a protest.
Also, Malheur National Wildlife Refuge occupation had one fatality, even if we are only counting the perpetrators.
I’d say that those are "second amendment solutions, civil wars, and shooting [threatening to shoot] “the other” ", and count in ways that I have not seen from “the left”.
Which one featured armed riflemen taking up positions?
QFT !!!
Yeah, I bookmarked the single entry so that I can copy/paste it into any thread on other places where people say there is no such thing as right wing terrorism. Thanks, SteveG1!
Feb 2017, Olathe, Kansas, “Get out of my country” shooting. One dead, two wounded.
Snowboarder Bo wrote(well, quoted anyway): "Counter-protesters were upset by a large green flag with four letter K’s waved by an anti-Sharia demonstrator, believing the flag was a nod to the Ku Klux Klan. The flag was the flag of Kekistan, a fictional right-wing country born from Internet gaming culture.
The flag’s design mimics a German Nazi war flag, which serves to make fun of liberals and their “political correctness,” according to the Southern Poverty Law Center. While protesters claimed the flag was not a symbol of white supremacy, and was just meant to “troll people,” the law center links Kekistan with white nationalism."
The fuck is wrong with these people?
Four Ks? Sounds like something Trump would come up with. “We have four Ks. We have the most Ks of any group abbreviation. We’re THE K OF KKK!”
The Bundy Ranch stand-off featured well-publicized scenes like this.
(From this article, e.g.)
These kind of gems actually make me feel sad for the unedumahcated alt-righteous folks. They never read or hear these and even if they did, they would never understand them. It’s such a shame. Sad.
Are these the people Astorian can not identify and doesn’t believe exists?
when you think about what actual nazis did, it shouldn’t surprise us so much when people act horrible. (even as we call them out on it)
as a species, we are capable of really bad stuff.
I can’t find any kind of cite for that tulsa OK death. I just keep getting a return on a bank teller killed by four black youths in a normal bank robbery. Not saying it didn’t happen.
And as for anti-gov, sovereign citizen assholes. Some of those dicks are so far right, they’ve come around left. If you know what i mean. If not avail yourselves of these skidmark’s youtube ticket encounters. “You can’t ticket me, I know my rights. West Virginia had no right to secede from Virginia so you legally can’t ticket me”
I made up that argument but its exactly the kind of thing you’d see.
