It would be news everywhere. GOP candidates would freak out. But they are silent over protests outside of mosques. Why the double standard?
Sadly, there would be at least one such protester shot and killed by a “good Christian”.
I’m sure it would mark the dawn of a new era. Where Muslims and Christians come together and finally put the animosity shared between them to a long deserved rest.
Why do you think? It’s not [del]brain surgery[/del] rocket science. I find it hard to believe that you don’t know, so why don’t you tell us?
What would they be protesting?

I guess it depends. Are these American citizens? Are they protesting in a legal fashion? Are they carrying the guns in a legal fashion for their state, county, city or whatever? Then I’d guess that while the GOP might freak out (some of them…others would be in favor of the right of Americans to keep and bear arms), and as long as they aren’t breaking any laws or threatening anyone with those guns that ‘America’ wouldn’t do a lot. Some folks would probably be afraid, since we seem to be going back into the bad old days where Muslim=terrorist and some people are afraid of anyone who they even THINK is a Muslim, but the law is the law and it applies equally to anyone who is an American citizen. Now…some cops might not THINK that’s the case, but in the courts any Muslim who is protesting legally is going to win that case.
What would they be protesting, btw? What are the Christians protesting in front of Mosques btw? And are these people all armed? I must have missed this in the news (no snark intended…I really haven’t seen anything about this).
This is the demonstration, from November 20, that inspires the conversation. Here is some more context.
Radical Christian Terrorism, of course.
At least the radical, extreme, dangerous right-wing fanatics protesting at the mosque didn’t shoot anyone. And the idea that they needed guns, or were in any danger just for protesting, is obviously just paranoia.
I mean, it’s not like that ever happens in Texas.

So what did they need masks for?
Meh, I can understand people wanting to maintain their anonymity. It wouldn’t surprise me if Theo van Gogh spent the last minutes of his life wishing he’d published anonymously. Same for the Charlie Hebdo staff. There are quite a few people in hiding because of very credible death threats against them for offending Muslims. If people feel the need to wear masks to a protest against Islam / Sharia / whatever, I say let them.
They don’t take them off until someone says the safe word.

Sure, let them. But don’t be disingenuous about their motives. The Klan doesn’t wear hoods because they fear reprisals, and neither did these people.
So…it’s not exactly a massive protest, just a few loonies. They are armed, though. Of course, the reason they are armed is kind of silly, but then, they are a bunch of nuts (albeit nuts with guns, which is such a great combo in the US). From your second cite:
So, I guess the answer to the OP as to why Muslims aren’t all freaked out or ready to do equally nutty things like this is because they can probably count (a dozen nutters out of a population of over 300 million isn’t that vast a problem…even if it was 20 times that number) and probably aren’t that worked up about it as long as it doesn’t turn violent.
I could easily see it being some of both (intimidation and fear of attack). It’s not like people who are critical of Islam don’t have a history of ending up assaulted or dead.
There is no significant history of it in this country.
Trump?
Are you saying that protesting armed and masked in front of a church is a perfectly reasonable thing to do?
No, NASCAR.

Not sure which country that is. Throughout the world’s recent history, there’s certainly a bit of a trend:
Theo van Gogh
Pamela Geller
Humayun Azad
Rajib Haider
Avijit Roy
Salman Rushdie
Charlie Hebdo
James Foley (not sure he really belongs on a list like this)
There are probably a few more that I can’t think of off the top of my head.
