Well, this is Buffy The Vampire Slayer's last year

Well, maybe now the show will be about Giles rebuilding the Watcher’s Council from the ground up, creating something that doesn’t rely so much on teenage girls, whose agents do more than consult their books when things get dangerous.

That’s be interesting to see, assuming Ripper ever happens.

Of course, it’s always possible that when/if the series happens it’ll be set during the period in Season 6 when Giles was in England, but that wouldn’t be nearly as interesting.

The BBC have reported a Faith series on the way

It’s time. I’m not at all interested in watching a show about Faith, Spike, or Kennedy, or even Giles at this point. Give it a dignified death, if that’s possible at this point, and let it go.

Whatever. I like it and I’ll watch it. I loved the movie too, but for what it was and not because of it’s connection with the show.
And I agree that Paul Rubens was friggin’ great.

The BBC show is puton hold indefinitely and EC is not going to be on it. She’s leaving ME and the Buffyverse forever. She’s said that five years is enough and she’s ready to move on.

I heard that it was going to be more of Giles introducing a wild and wacky story from the Watcher’s Diaries than an entire show about him. Tales from the Slayer’s Crypt perhaps…

Pretty much unsubstaniated rumors. These rumors have been flying around the Internet for months, and occasionally people pick up on it and report as fact, but we’ve never received confirmation from ME or UPN—until that happens, I’m not going to get too excited.

Who presented Robin William’s award with Rod Stewart? A future version of Anna Nicole?

I actually think Buffy is the weakest character in the whole line-up of Buffy and Angel. And I notice that SMG’s heart is not in it.

But going for movies? If the trade mags are right, she makes $3,3 million a years from Buffy. I doubt she’ll be able to do a movie a year for that kinda money. Maybe she wants to have kids with Scumbrains Prinze or she’s afraid that she’ll be Buffy for ever. Well, she will. It’s too late to change that. Fifteen years from now, we’ll see her in E! True Hollywood story, talking about how great her life has been, while she does odd “special guest star” gigs on other TV shows.

I’d really, really like to see a SO with Willow, but as I’ve stated before, I don’t think Network exec’s will go for that, since she’s not the tradional Hollywood-bimbo-beauty. But her struggling with her powers is interesting.

As for the others:
Roads to redemption are open for Spike, Faith and Angel. Coming to terms with being mortal is something for Anya (which could have been explored better). Andrew has taken over Anya’s role of the quirky comments, and even he is more interesting than Buffy right now (but could never carry a SO).
Xander was more interesting, and the writers would have to do some work to make him that way again, but his future could be worth following. Dawn is still the key. There is prolly a potential there, but I don’t know what. As long as it’s not set in High School, I’m happy. With Giles, there is of course the Ripper potential.
As for the Angel cast. Cordy is getting more and more complex and interesting the whole time. Wes with his (private) demons of growing up with a father like that, feeling the temptation from the dark side, ASF. He’s interesting. Fred and Gunn are weaker, but that’s because the writers haven’t done anything with them for quite some time. Lorne is the perfect sidekick. Connor should be cancelled due to lack of interest.

So - Dream scenario: Something with Will, Spike, Lorne, Wes, Cordy, Andrew.
Worst scenario. Ever. SpinOff with Dawn and Connor in a relationship.
(I do think Trachtenberg is a good actress. The writers have been giving her crappy material).

Lots of stories to the effect of Buffy being in the last season-- the permission for cross-overs, ratings, cast members leaving, plot issues on Buffy ect.

If the main show can’t make ratings, a new spin-off certainly won’t.

Angel is our only hope for the Buffy-verse. Which is fine by me- as it has been the stronger show since UPN Buffy.

Part of it is- I think Joss overreached. He went from Buffy, to Buffy and Angel, to Buffy, Angel and Firefly, Ripper, that stupid cartoon and god knows what else going on at the same time. The quality of Buffy suffered. Alot. Combined with the move to UPN (and the loss of the epic cross-over events), this spelt serious trouble for the series. Life as the Big Bad was a serious mistake, as was the choice of the 3 Morons as the Big Bad for much of a season. And even the First Evil gets lamer by the week. Then there was the classic “Moonlighting Mistake” of pairing up Spike and Buffy.

Sometimes (like when the horrid Kennedy is on the screen) I think the series should have ended with the last season of the WB. Buffy jumps into the rift and saves the world. THE END.

Sigh, but I will keep watching till the end. Its the small things thing like the speech of Xander to Dawn that make even sub-par Buffy better then 90% of the other crap on.

Well, Faith will not be back in the Buffyverse next year, no matter what the outcome. On Friday she signed a deal with FOX.

And as an interesting aside, Marti Noxon mentioned awhile ago that she’s doing a pilot for FOX next season—good this be it? I don’t know, I’m just so happy to get The Bitch away from BtVS that I don’t care what she does next.
Maybe if we get a spinoff or S8 next year, it won’t suck.

Buffy without Marti as showrunner? Wow. I think I just peed…

Angel has been better this season, that’s for sure. I think this is really the only year that has been the case(I didn’t hate season 6 of Buffy as much as some).

I saw an interview with Joss recently, and when asked if this was the last season of Buffy, he said, “God, I hope so.” When asked about it being the last year of Angel, he said, “No.” When asked about a spin off series, he said, “That’s a long way off.”

Yes, but much, much more recently, Joss announced at the Make-A-Wish fundrasier (last weekend to be exact) that “It (BtvS) isn’t over yet.”

You heard wrong. If - and I do say if - Ripper goes ahead, it’ll be a co-funded production with the BBC. The premise of the show as currently conceived is that Giles returns home and deals with mysterious phenomena and hauntings. Vampires and demons will not be present (the Beeb’s forthcoming home-grown show Strange has the market on demons).

Ripper is a mini-series, not a full on series. Joss has also said that it is a while before they produce that.

Well, that’s why Buffy and Cordelia were always at each other’s throats. Cordy had the life that Buffy used to have and sometimes wanted to have back.
