Come visit NJ. 24 appointments on Sunday at 3 CVS within 6 miles of my house. That’s just CVS – I haven’t checked Walgreens or the various state-run megacenters.
As they are here in Arizona. However the stories I’m reading are saying the number of vaccinations per day are dropping, and not because the number of vax sites are decreasing. I’ve drawn a conclusion.
The good news is that excess doses here in Maricopa county are being sent to Apache county which, per capita, has been hit harder.
I’m not sure what conclusion you have drawn?
That most folks who are wanting to get vaxxed have already gotten one or at least have an appointment in the next couple weeks. Since about half the population is currently at having one dose, and 25% at both doses this does not bode well.
I seriously hope that both of us will be eating crow in a couple of months. That would be awesome and I would do it happily.
Well I have survived my two weeks after the J&J vaccine without any blood clots or other deadly side effects. Since the county has so many non-scheduled shots available do you think they would allow me to receive one of the more effective two shot vaccines also?
J&J was never my choice, but I was having trouble scheduling Pfiser or Moderna so when I had the chance I lept at it. Now I have buyers (receivers?) remorse.
And yes- I know of no one else who is planning to vaccinate (excepting those who are waiting for a second shot and most of them should be completed by now).
Side effects of taking multiple vaccines may include becoming a super soldier, which doesn’t always work out very well.
I would rather have my resistant (read: petty, stubborn, obstructionist, anti-science, narrow minded, etc.) neighbors take those unused doses if not for themselves (and every last one of the ones I know call themselves a “christian”) to care for their neighbors as they care for themselves. I literally have a hard time imagining a more caring action they could take.
(Apparently obstructing the liberal agenda ranks higher as one of those “unwritten” commandments than what Jesus summarized as the entire law and prophets. Gee, I hope I do not come across as sounding bitter!)
It’s so strange to read about how different things are in Arizona vs Los Angeles, where I live. I mean, I always knew they were, but it’s just bizarre to imagine such a visible signal of a staunch commitment to irrationality as a crowded store full of unmasked people in the midst of this pandemic. Here, people have been really good about masks and have been social distancing as much as possible given it’s a densely populated area (people can’t always be 6 feet apart at every moment, but we do a great job having every individual/group as far away from every other as possible.) It was discouraging to see that making so little difference in infection rates for so long, but now with the vaccines the tide is finally turning. I’m really glad I live here, even if my exact same house would have cost half as much there.
Things are back to normal in Arizona. Masks are rarely seen and social distancing has been forgotten.
Parts of Scottsdale are at 50% vaccinated, the rest of the state is lagging at around 33%. Walk in vaccine clinics are giving incentives and many clinics are closing down due to lack of business.
Hubs has been sick for 12 days and was diagnosed with COVID yesterday.
If you folks were smart, you would build a wall between CA and AZ.
I’ve been checking your link and as of today, it says AZ is just over 35% vaccinated with a 4% drop in vaccinations received.
Do you still find my concerns without merit?
Oh, I wouldn’t want to do anything to impede this alleged flood of fed-up people leaving California for lower taxes and less government interference.
Almost everyone who gets seriously ill or dies is unvaccinated, and with around half the population vaccinated we have powerful statistics demonstrating this. Of course, the idiots won’t believe statistics on the news showing this. Ironically, it would be anecdotally much more obvious to them if the disease were worse. Most people probably don’t have a large enough circle of friends/family in both vaccinated and unvaccinated categories that the pattern will be so clear in front of their eyes that it will convince them when they are determined not to believe it. We’re probably right at the “sweet spot” where it’s still killing and seriously harming a very large number of unvaccinated people, but not quite enough that the pattern will be obvious and undeniable in a local sample of a few hundred people (unless they are mostly elderly).
Here is further evidence of that in my state.
I hope your husband recovers soon, @JaneDoe42.
I hope the news services keep hammering these stories showing that it’s unvaccinated people dying. If the likes of Fox News do not, they are directly responsible for a vast amount of additional completely unnecessary serious disease and death, now mostly among their viewership.
Thanks for the good wishes, I am conflicted. On one hand, hubs is one of those hoaxer/anti-vax idiots and its his own fault that he’s sick. On the other hand, he’s my husband, I love him, I don’t like him being sick and I’m very worried because of his age and heart condition. The dumbass.
Oh, almost forgot to mention that no masks are needed in schools anymore. But that’s OK, kids don’t get it anyhow and if they do, they don’t spread it or anything.
COVID vaccines will probably be suggested for school age kids, but if you don’t want to bother, just say its against your beliefs and your kids can run around and spread COVID just like measles and the flu.
I sincerely hope for his speedy recovery. Is he showing remorse for not getting jabbed?
Oh, hell no. He drank the trump kool-aid a couple of years ago and I haven’t found a 12-step program for that.
But, besides that idiocy, he’s a great man. Kind, generous, funny, considerate, pretty much everything anyone would want in a long term partner. I really don’t know what happened and I’ll bet that there are many people today wondering the same thing about their loved ones. WTF happened?!?
The same thing happened to a good friend’s wife. It’s inexplicable.
That is the problem with a lot of these states. Their COVID numbers don’t reflect the amount of virus they’ve exported.
