Then get thee to a Culver’s or a White Castle! Both have deeeeeeelicious crinkle-cut fries.
You know, I love crinkle-cut fries at home, but I hate Culver’s and White Castle fries. The oil has a weird taste or something.
Then stay thee home?
Really? I don’t see that.
The Asiago Ranch Chicken Club with the Spicy Chicken patty is pure awesome.
Now if only they’d bring back that Bacon and Bleu burger. Liked that too.
The buns have less flavor and more air than the old ones. The chicken is definitely lower quality than they used to have. Even the beef seems to have less flavor to it. And, oh man, my wife had one of their fancy new salads a couple months ago, and it was the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen. It was like hamburger soup with floating lettuce leaves.
I didn’t like the old fries and I don’t like the new fries
the idea of dipping the fries in frosty is gross
Assuming they did them correctly, I agree. They had some quality control issues but I think they were already the best fry of the major chains.
Their old fries were gross. Flavorless and limp. They are much better now, though McDonald’s are still the best.
That’s what everybody I’ve ever introduced it to said (I, myself, was introduced to it at a young age by the wise people of a previous generation).
Not one person who I’ve successfully convinced to try it has said that afterward, though.
Amazingly, it works. And I don’t like either Frostys or Wendy’s fries on their own. The Frosty is like a bowl of tomato soup when I eat grilled cheese. When the sandwich is done any leftover soup goes in the trash. Same with the Frosty when the fries are gone.
I don’t like tomato soup with grilled cheese either.
Frosty is great on its own and I will never put fries in it.
A frosty is only a frosty with the addition of fries, what you get is a milkshake.
no a frosty is much thicker than a milkshake. I think Wendy’s started selling some things t hey call milkshakes. I never tried it. They couldn’t be better than Frostys.
I seldom get fast food fries unless I’m going for poutine. Fries are the kiss of death for my diet. Wendy’s old fries were gross, but I usually only went there if I want a Bacon Mushroom Melt.
Remember when KFC changed the recipe for their fries? Old KFC fries were way nastier than Wendy’s fries…
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a KFC that sells fries (unless they’re combined with an A&W).
Hmm…maybe it’s a Canadian thing? The Mega Meal was 9 pieces of chicken, Large Fries, Gravy, Salads, the McCain chocolate Glop cake, and a 2L Pepsi. That was our normal summer picnic fare!
I think Canada KFC does have something different. I’ve only ever seen “potato wedges”
K, well, take my word then that they were pretty nasty. The greasy cardboard box they came in tended to be more flavorful, and easier to chew.
I never cared much for their fries. After the revamp, I was severely disappointed. They’re still terrible. I threw away half an order, which is unheard of.
Joe
I’ve long rated Wendy’s fries as the best. They have a rich potato flavor that seems lacking in other chain’s fries. Their new fries are OK. I only had 'em once, and was shocked and disappointed to see the change, though they seemed pretty good. I’m not sure they’re as good, or better, but they’re not bad. I need more samples to decide.
It seemed an unnecessary change. I wish Burger King would change their fries. I swear they are dipped in the devil’s vomit before being fried.
Close; they’re dipped in / coated in a starch, to make them crispier / firmer. BK changed their fries in the late 90s (and made a big deal about it for a few months), after apparently getting a lot of complaints that their fries were limp.
