Wendys pretzel bun sandwiches. Anyone tried them yet?

Some of my coworkers want to make a Wendys run today. I’ve never had any pretzels except those terrible stale things they sell at the grocery store.

I got to admit the pretzel bun sandwiches look good in the commercial. Especially the pub chicken. The bacon cheeseburger looks good too.

Anyone tried these yet? Whats that pretzel bun like? Hope its not salty and rock hard like those grocery store pretzels?

I had one a while ago, and it made very little impression on me. It just seemed like a slightly chewier bun than usual. I didn’t notice any other difference.

Ditto.

I tried one. Hated it. It added a gross taste, IMO. Maybe I just don’t like pretzel buns in general.

Feel the same way. It didn’t really have a lot of pretzel flavor to it. I much prefer the pretzel rolls they sell at Trader Joe’s.

It worked ok with the burger. Less so with the chicken sandwich.

I tried the pub chicken sandwich. It’s fine, but nothing special. The bun is like an unsalted soft pretzel in terms of texture, and not super-flavorful.

They’re both very good, but I could go without the honey mustard on the burger.

I like pretzel buns.

I like most burgers at Wendy’s.

I did not like the pretzel burger at Wendy’s.

Yeah this.

I like the sauce they use, though. On both the burger and chicken.

The burger has been out here in Ohio (or at least my neighborhood) for about a year. I think we’re a test market, being that Wendy’s is an Ohio joint. I’ve gotten maybe 5 in the past year.

Just finished my first Pub Chicken. Tasty. Really liked the honey mustard sauce and melted cheese. A bit drippy but I managed to keep it off my shirt. It had some kind of leafs on it like Bay leaf? Whatever they were, they got chewed up with the chicken as I ate.

I agree the pretzel bun isn’t anything special. I didn’t notice much pretzel taste because the sauces were so strong. Someone mentioned the bun was more chewy and I agree.

I’ll get another one. It’s a nice change from a boring burger.

Probably lettuce. It’s a leafy green vegetable. It’s good for you.

It’s spinach.

I tried the pub chicken sandwich at a Wendy’s we stopped at for lunch on a road trip across Kansas last month. It would have been better without the cheese sauce goop. The pretzel bun was fine but the sandwich was meh.

Am I being a total unbearable foodie snot if it cracks me up that someone is reviewing a sandwich with unidentified leaves on it, and it’s spinach?

The websites I’m finding identify the vegetable material in the Wendy’s Pub Chicken sandwich as only “spring mix”. I don’t think there is any official definition as to what constitutes spring mix, so it could be spinach or lettuce or something else.

Hmm, I coulda swore I read that it was spinach. Or it was in a TV or radio ad or something. I even remember that I bought the chicken sandwich with a twinge of excitement that I’d be eating something slightly nutritional.

It’s definitely not a bay leaf, though. aceplace57 do you have any idea what a bay leaf is???

I tried it a few months ago. It was okay. Not bad, not great. To be honest, the bun was a little heavy for my tastes, but I only got a single burger. Maybe on a double it would have been better.

Looking at the picture on the Wendys website it has that purple weed that they put into “spring mix”.

Use bay leaf all the time cooking roasts. I know it’s not edible. Bay leafs can cut up your gut. But the pretzel bun chicken sandwich had a couple leafs on it with that shape. It also had some spinach on it too. quite tasty.
