How do you go from “I avoid looking at them” to “that’ll show them!”? I’m not imposing my views on anyone else, just avoiding/ignoring something I find distasteful.
Why that makes people butthurt and then they make a big deal of posting something I already have said I find distasteful in a reply to me I don’t know. Tell me, when someone tells you they’re vegetarian do you make a big production about chewing and eating a steak in front of them?
Right. But if I upload an image to the board, the storage will be charged to the board’s account. A couple of small attachments would not even make a dent in whatever the package deal is, but a hypothetical gigabyte uploaded every day might add up. If you knew what the realistic expected volume was, you could say whether or not it would be negligible.
You can upload images to the board, as it stands at the moment. But you can’t display them inline - you have to display a link. I’m sure this will be fixed soon.

We would love to be able to allow pictures. (I have a very lovely cat myself, as don’t we all.)
However, after one too many times of opening a thread and finding “goatse,” it was decided this was why we could not have nice things.
[/quote]I’m sure those damn jumpscare scream things didn’t help any, either.
Like what, 20 years ago? I haven’t seen goatse on the internet other than parody type images of it (a Kermit the Frog puppet, for example) in god knows how long.
I can think of TONS of things that have happened here that have been far, far worse than the occasional troll putting up some inappropriate picture.
Look, we’re seeing tons of people posting unshaven pussies in this very threat!
I prefer pictures (and videos) that you can expand In place (I would rather have Text description tags than thumbnails). If nothing else, for the convenience. Dope threads load instantly because they are not crapped up with images and videos, and having thumbnails or descriptions lets you load only all the text at once and pull in the images only if you want them.
Also, on most sites, the pictures are of unknown size to the browser, so page loading can get jumpy.
My first choice would be no inline/thumbnail images or an user option to turn off images. However, if images are allowed without that option I’ll be happy to jump in and post my pics in appropriate threads.
This is a bit of a drive-by post since I didn’t read the entire discussion prior, but if they are going to continue to blocking the ability to use inline images I think it’s important that we find a way to disable that capability in the editor.
It makes no sense that you can compose a reply with a screenshot and paste it in and then when you submit you get an annoying error message. If you can’t disable it in the editor then that’s a really compelling argument for just allowing it across the board. It’s very bad UX to be showing that error after the post is ready for submission.
