Were you surprised by the backlash from Kaepernick, other athletes kneeling vs. the public

Well, I’ve pointed out twice now, not counting this current sentence, that it was the very noticeable repetition of the exact same grammar error, even while acknowledging its correction by another poster, that raised my eyebrows. I don’t really know how I can make it any clearer to you that that’s not exactly the same thing as just “lack of proper grammar” in general, but if you’re still not understanding the difference, I apologize for my failure to explain it effectively.

In the case of Y1C in particular, I think it’s significant because he’s already well aware that the rest of us tend to think he’s either a Russian troll, or somebody pretending to be a Russian troll in a kind of “meta-trolling” prank. In one form or another, his lapses from standard English grammar are clearly part of his persona, whether intentionally or otherwise. So when he doubles down on one of them, that does come across as kind of letting his troll flag fly.

i SAID *shrug

I’m not stupid, I’m not an idiot. I’m not interested in racial conflict. Let’s talk about race, it’s the scab in the nation’s leg. Let’s discuss it.

What I am telling you is that there is a segment of white America that doesn’t care about police brutality, Kaepernick, race.

They see themselves as viscerally patriotic and they feel that discussing these things are disrespectful. It doesn’t affect them.

That is all.

They see themselves as viscerally patriotic?

That’s a sure sign that they’re not. Patriotism is something you aspire to, not something you can jump start into reality by chest-thumping.

It’s disrespectful to discuss police brutality, Kaepernick and race? How’s that?

You have to understand that Yankees man doesn’t believe that it’s disrespectful to discuss those things. Nosiree!

He’s just telling us what those other guys think.

Since Yankees 1996 Champs seems to somehow know what a “segment of white America” believes, surely he can explain and discuss this belief.

I mean, from reading the internet I know a segment of America believes the Earth is flat and Neil Armstrong never went to the moon, but I recognize that’s insane and don’t promote those beliefs.

Listen lets quit arguing over who enslaved who, or who lynched who, lets just admit that both sides were wrong and play ball. The whites have gotten over Jim Crow why can’t the blacks?

You contradicted yourself in hour first sentence. You’re not interested in racial conflict. So let’s discuss racial conflict!

“Scab in the nations leg” isn’t a saying here in America.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees doesn’t agree with Kap and now the entire Saints club is in a war.

Brees should have kept quiet, but I am telling you, a lot of people don’t agree with Colin.

And a lot of people agreed with Bull Conner. Doesn’t make them right.

All I know is that Derek Jeter is an asshole.

There you go again, telling us what other people think. You previously said, “They say you can’t protest at work, do it on your own time, not while playing a game. That’s not how I feel, that is how a majority of white America feels.”

Stop telling us what other people think; what do you think? And how did you get appointed (elected?) to speak for “a majority of white America”?

I like Kap, I thought he was bold, but the whole national anthem thing was stupid.

Anthems shouldn’t be played in sports, and Brees should not be chased out because of this.

Here’s a plan; stick to offering your own opinions, rather than pretending to be speaking for others.

While I agree with Comrade Yankees that the national anthem shouldn’t be played at sporting events, that is where my agreement ends. If they insist on shoving it down our throat, players should have that time for peaceful, respectful protest. That is this white persons opinion.

With any luck, this will allow Dinamo Moskva to win the NFC South!

Thanks for this stunning insight.

A lot of people in the US don’t think there’s a problem with systemic racism in general and in particular with our police forces?

Wow, What an Insight! I’m glad we have such a wonderful ascerbic Russian assessment of our social situation. Wouldn’t have come up with it myself, I swear!
