Aye, and I guarantee that more people like football waaaaaaay more than the number of people who’ll stand firm with Trump on this want to stand firm on this.
Trump picked a fight that he can’t win.
I mean, wait until it get’s characterized as “Trump is trying to destroy the NFL and football”; how do you think that will play in flyover country?
The other factor, I just mentioned in another thread is the billions of dollars Fox pays to get the rights to show the NFL. The sponsors who pay them for commercial time aren’t going to like Fox News dumping on the league and supporting the boycotters very much. I wonder if the is the straw that breaks the back, you know because rights to protest is so critical
About a dozen players of Kraft’s team, the Patriots, took a knee during the national anthem today, while the rest of the team linked arms. I believe I heard quite a lot of booing immediately following the anthem, but it didn’t appear that any fans stormed out in counter-protest.
I would have liked to see the Pats carry their protest further by finally losing to the Texans, but whatever.
And right now, CNN is the “All NFL protests, all the time” channel even though (among other things), 3 1/2 million American citizens are without utilities in Puerto Rico, some nut walked into a church in the Nashville area and shot 7 people, and, well, North Korea. :o
Clearly the NFL needs a team composed entirely of [del]good conservative[/del] terrorized Trumpists, who will never ever protest something unless the potato-in-chief does. And who, having been selected for their cravenness, not their gridiron skills, will also never ever win.
Well, at least MSNBC has their priorities straight— they are concentrating all their airtime on the revelation that Jared Kushner set up an email account on a private server and used that account to conduct official business — or something. :smack::smack:
So if one million are protesting Trump by attending does that mean that the other 320+ million Americans are siding with Trump because they do not attend an NFL game? :dubious:
To paraphrase Freud, sometimes a football game is just a football game.
People who wanted to watch football no matter what will watch it. SOME people who were watching will be put off by this shit and quit watching. There might also be another group that did not watch football but NOW will because “yeah, fuck Trump/whatever”.
IMO that second group WAY outnumbers the third one.
Now, whether those numbers make any sigificant difference is a whole nother issue.
Don’t blame CNN for reporting the news. President Trump looked over all the problems in this country and the rest of the world and decided this was the perfect opportunity to complain that he doesn’t like what some professional athletes are doing and make that his issue of the week.
