Gone silent because I was out of town today on wedding-related errands. My life doesn’t resolve around allaying your suspicions, which I suspect it’s too late to do anyway. I mean, really, what could I say now that would convince you, aside from claiming a role? Probably nothing.
Enginerd: Saying that I was voting randomly and wanted others to do so is inaccurate. I wanted to pressure lurkers into talking more. By doing that, I talked too much, apparently, and now everyone thinks I’m a werewolf. Sigh.
Not everyone thinks you’re a werewolf, but everyone who’s given an opinion on it thinks you have a less-than-perfect voting strategy. Sure, on the first day, when no one had said much yet, voting solely on participation was okay. My first Day One vote was based on bacon, remember?
But by Day Three, there’s been lots of stuff said. Read the stuff, and analyze it. And, I think it’s fine to include low post counts as part of your analysis, but not rely on that and nothing else.
That’s a good list, Kat, although I think it would be helpful to include who dead werewolves voted for as well. If someone racks up a lot of votes from known wolves, that’s probably a good indicator that they’re innocent.
Pressuring is one thing, but voting based solely on that criteria is another. We have two and a half days worth of dialogue to analyze to try to figure out who’s a werewolf and who isn’t, yet you maintain that we don’t have anything to go on and that we’re essentially voting at random, so a lurker vote is as good as anything else. While it was at the beginning, that’s no longer the case. A random vote (or a vote for no concrete reason) is far more likely to benefit the werewolves than the townsfolk. With that in mind, what are we supposed to make your position?
This will be much more helpful once we have more than one known wolf.
Well, I haven’t, actually. Just ask Miller, he’s telling everyone who’ll listen that I didn’t stick to my “vote for lurkers” strategy. I voted for him at first for lurking, then stuck with my vote because I thought what he said in his own defense was suspicious. We still don’t know if he’s a werewolf. No one I’ve voted for has been lynched.
I still want to encourage more participation in the thread, though seems like talking too much is a bad idea too. I find a lot of people suspicious, though I fear anything I say now will look like me just trying to save my ass, right?
You don’t have to use lynching-threats to get people talking. Ask them questions and/or post comments on their votes, their non-vote suspicions and the logic they used to arrive at their conclusions.
Look, MadTheSwine got me to make my longest post in this thread just by asking.
hello you lot, i’m sorry for going quiet. Lot to catch up on now, kat your notes were handy, ta
it’s not the same without jsexton is it? I was a bit suspicious of him, taking the lead and trying to seem so obviously town… But that was cos he was town, and a usefully experienced player. i could see where Suburban plankton was coming from, but decided to wait and see what developed. RIP
anyway, i think today Rubystreak has been very over defensive for someone who doesn’t want the game to be ‘personal’. I can see where she’s coming from, as it is important to get people talking (again, sorry. Hope to participate properly now), but it isn’t the only voting criteria. although, easier than combing through pages, but far too risky now. from Tuesday, i should have proper net access on my laptop, so be sooo much easier to go over the pages than on my mobile
Of all the defences when people are fingered, I find this ‘Come and have a go if you think you’re hard enough’ one… Interesting.
Currently, my number one suspect is Rubystreak. Yet, as she’s already in the lead vote wise, not much point me adding mine. I don’t want to act too hasty either (moonstarssun, what a mistake!) , and seeing that voting isn’t compulsory maybe I’ll hang on a bit…
O the irony of Sturmhauk saying that whoever Wanderers votes for could be a good one to go with as at least it won’t be another mason… And next post down Wanderers votes for him.
Wow, time’s up already!? I had hoped to be able to do some more analysis, but it looks like there won’t be time for that.
I’m reasonably comfortable with my vote for Rubystreak; I’ve had her on my “suspect” list for a while. Not for any particular reason that I can articulate, more just a gut feeling. But that still seems to be the best we’ve got at this point. I was a bit put off not so much by her voting strategy, but by her defensiveness whenever her name was brought up. It just seemed to be a bit too much, as if perhaps it was forced.
Trans-continental plane ride complete, with all sorts of fun extra stuff like Mrs. WeHaveCookies not feeling well shortly after I left, Alamo’s computer system being down, and my hotel wireless being incompatible with Vista, or something. I’m hunkered down at a public wi-fi hotspot, catching up on stuff.
Looks like I missed my chance to vote?
Am I correct in remembering that OaOWanderers is out indefinitely with personal stuff?
I found the high volume exchanges with Rubystreak to be interesting, but it is difficult to distinguish between loquaciousness and implementation of strategy.
As I’ve posted previously (in defense of myself and all of the other folks who were taking stabs in the dark on the first day) despite the outcome of lynching the Alpha Wolf, I think that reading too much into what was said or done on the first day has a high probability of being a bad idea, statistically speaking.
waves not indefinitely, just had to get my head on again and wasn’t up to anything for a bit. Not ok, but doing me best.
where’s our esteemed hangman? My popcorn’s cold.
