Heh, Meltdown. I don’t know about that, I think I just take internet flaming too seriously. I used to be pretty vicious at it on other boards and I’m not proud of that (I’ve been where davenportavenger is now, a total screw up who takes it out on strangers), I’ve driven people off of boards and given people emotional problems. So doing this is something I take more seriously than I should I guess. But my evil days are behind me now.
The semen is flushed down the toilet now, like a normal person. So I have that going for me.

I certainly can’t think of anyone at SDMB who is more trusting with the personal details of his life. He doesn’t pretend to be something he is not and I like that about him.
Some of his threads have lead to some involving discussions.
Give him a break; he’s doing lots of research. What do you think all of those punctuationless GQ threads are for?

You said you diagnosed yourself with schizophrenia based on a website and were cured of it after reading that website. That is not possible, anymore than if you were to diagnose yourself with cancer and then just will it away. Schizophrenia is a serious fucking disease and I really don’t like the way you flippantly treat it, and I also don’t like the way that other people seem to accept this. Have you ever even been to a psychiatrist to confirm your suspicions? I won’t deny that you probably have something going on upstairs, but it ain’t schizophrenia.
And yeah, I really don’t see why you needed to bring this thread back up, but have fun digging yourself into the ground.
I agree that schizophrenia isn’t the sort of thing that one generally “wills” himself out of. (I haven’t read the relevant thread and can’t comment on the contents. But it isn’t at all unusual for people reading about a disease to self-diagnose. It happens frequently to medical students.
Why are you concerned about the way he treats his own illness? Why do you want him to see a psychiatrist? Are you interested in his welfare? If you think he probably has “something going on upstairs,” can that not also be a “serious fucking disease”?
What I have noticed in Wesley’s threads in general over a period of time is that he does see to be feeling more centered and in touch with his own sense of self. Threads like this give him a chance to test that new found strength.
I suspect that eventually he won’t need to prove it to himself anymore and will leave behind much of the need to defend himself.
I wonder how long it will be before you give up the need to belittle him.
Before you think that I am riding some high horse, I will tell you that I have a problem similar to yours. There is one person here who drives me nuts because he has developed a false persona for himself. I have difficulty restraining my comments to and about his lies.

Zoe, I think because this is a board dedicated to fighting illness, and Wesley is seriously misrepresenting what schizophrenia is all about.
