Wesley Snipes freed from prison

For anyone who cares, he got out of prison 3 days ago and is under some kind of house arrest until July, when he is freed entirely.

I hope they put him in Expendables 3 or make a Blade 4(to make up for the bad Blade 3).

He’s been in prison since 2010 for tax problems. Specifically, he didn’t pay his taxes, which apparently they care about. :stuck_out_tongue:

This is racialism. Rich white people never get in trouble

Does he get to keep the money now? They probably fined it away from him already, huh? I hope so actually. As a tax payer, I’m not a big fan of tax dodgers.

However, good for him. I liked him as an actor. Not a lot of range, but a sort of intensity that was fun to watch.

Blade III!!! Wooo-hooo!!!

Quick, someone call John Spartan!

Oh no, it’s much worse than that. He started spouting “tax protestor” arguments, which really, really makes the IRS see red. If you want the IRS to make an example of you, that’s the way to go; both for public policy reasons, and because those people are very irritating and the IRS folks have to deal with them all the time.

Maybe he and Nicolas Cage and Lindsay Lohan can get together and make a film about the IRS.

Only if Snipes and Lohan let Cage talk to them about Scientology.
I liked Snipes as an actor. I hope he gets decent work soon.

I read someplace (probably the Enquirer) Lilo can’t get insurance to finish a film - apparently the studios need to insure actors for that sort of thing and what I read either flat out stated or strongly implied that she was uninsurable.

Not to be too ghoulish, but I think there are odds for whether or not she even makes it to her next birthday

Soundtrack by Willie Nelson.

The guy is a tool and I have no sympathy for him. Pay your fucking taxes like the rest of us have to, asshole.

So does he still have to pay those back taxes? Or does going to prison for not paying them clear the slate for him?

Here’s the story from CNN - not much detail. The last of the 4 paragraphs is funny though - in a curiously sad way.

Three years on a misdemeanor? I didn’t think that was possible. I would have sworn the cut off was 1 year and after that it would be considered a felony. Huh.

He owes $17 million I think, which I would guess he does not have anymore. He may need to make a Blade movie or something just to pay back the amount owed, whatever amount they negotiate to.

Three misdemeanors = three years. IOW, he got the max.

Ah, and they made them consecutive rather than concurrent. I don’t recall much about sentencing guidelines, but I think that’s also unusual.

edit: Thanks

Srsly? I thought we jailed him for Blade 3: Trinity. I mean I know he regrets doing it and all, but that doesn’t let a guy off the hook for his crimes, especially not for crimes against humanity.
:stuck_out_tongue:

Crap, I knew I was missing one.

Blade IV, woo-hoo!!!

[sniffle] but I liked Trinity. Wasn’t real happy about the ending, but maybe that was to set up the series? IDK, probably not.

If you like the vamp genre, here’s one that’s kind of off beat but pretty well done and looks at things from the point of view a vamp dominated world - Daybreakers (2009). Of course, consider my previous comment about liking Trinity - YMMV (IOW, have your AAA card handy).

Man, it’s the future already? Where’s my shells? Why hasn’t Taco Bell become a monopoly? I feel ripped off.

Perhaps there was some kind of fast-food Kyle Reese who returned from the future and prevented The Franchise Wars. I would like to think that it was either Dave Thomas, Grimace, or possibly The Noid.
