Wow. Don’t piss off the IRS, they will hunt you and nail your ass.
But I don’t blame you for missing it. It has fallen to the third page. 
Yes, they will really nail you to the wall . . . if you blatantly piss in their faces and ignore warning after warning that your dumb ass is about to land behind bars. Three years might be a little excessive but he needed to be made an example of.
The odd thing was that I always had the impression Snipes (just a vibe based on his movie persona) was fairly intelligent. I had no idea he was such an incredible bonehead. What he did was dumb as a box of hammers stupid.
When I first heard about it it freaked me out. I figured the guy had an army of accountants and lawyers yet this happened. I file taxes in the US and it scares the crap out of me that I might end up, for some honest mistake, on the business end of the IRS machine gun. Then I read what really happened to him. The guy is a dumbass. There were no honest mistakes in this case.
I didn’t think there was any penalty unless you actually owed the IRS money.
Well, I suppose he doesn’t have withholding on his movie fees.
