West Virginia, license plate question.

While driving today, I got behind a car with West Virginia plates. Several years ago, I had a friend from WV and I specifically remember the logo on the plate read, “Wet, Wild, & Wonderful West Virginia”. However today, the plate simply read, “Wild & Wonderful West Virginia”. Is West Virginia no longer wet? I must admit that I used to think off female anatomy when I saw the old plates, and I am assuming that that is why the verbiage was changed. Any insight?

I don’t recall there ever being a “Wet, wild, and wonderful”,
maybe you are thinking of a license plate frame

One of their new plates.

As a native West Virginian, I can guarantee that WV license plates never contained the word “wet.”

I meant to add that their plates never said “Wet”.

I grew up in VA, not far from WV, and on occasion would head up with my buddies to a strip club in Princeton, WV. We’d always joke about the welcome sign, “Welcome…Wild and Wonderful West Virginia!” Considering our destination, we’d always joke that there oughtta be a “Wet” in there. I expect it’s a fairly common joke. Maybe you saw a joke plate? Or maybe it was written on a license plate frame, like that cheapbastardon38thstreet mentioned? Or maybe you saw the official slogan, immediately thought of the obvious joke, and confabulated the two? Just tossin’ out possibilities.
