WET - the game

So, has anyone else tried this? I just got the demo for the XBOX 360 and it’s basically Kill Bill: The Video Game. The violence is pornographic. The developers claim that the title is a reference to “wetworks”, which is spy novel parlance for jobs that involve killing. This is of course bullshit, especially since the protagonist is a woman in a tight leather suit and voiced by Eliza Dushku.

I do wonder, however, if all of this over-the-top 70’s nostalgia is sustainable over the course of a game or if one eventually becomes bored with it, kind of like watching too many South Park episodes in a row. And how long is the full game, anyway? How much replayability does it have? Anyone out there have the inside scoop?

I haven’t got a chance to play it, even though I really want to, but why don’t you believe them? Wet is short for wetworks and that’s what the phrase means. That was also the title of the game before Dushku ever got involved.

IGN only gave it a 6.7

Well, I think the title is definitely meant to have connotations of female sexual arousal, especially considering how prominently the female protagonist features in ads. Look at it this way, would it still have been called WET if the main character was a man? Although it would be amusing to see an ad with a beefy Gears of War type giving a come-hither look at the screen.

I just looked in Metacritic and the general consensus gives it a B. I suppose all the slo-mo killings get repetitive after a while.
