As at least a few of the Teeming Millions know, I got married about two weeks ago. So far, marriage seems to be great, but I’m waiting for the third week to give a final judgement on it.
Mr. Lissar has put up a bunch of the wedding pictures on his webpage, and thus real pictures of both of us are finally available. All the pics are on one page, so unless you have a super-fast computer I suggest that you start them loading, open another window, and do other stuff online while you wait. He promises to set them up in separate pages soon.
The photographer is a good friend of ours, and I think he did a fantastic job. It was a very small wedding, and a lot of fun, even the bit where we came home and found that a few of the wedding guests had gotten into our apartment and redecorated with balloons, red icing, and streamers. Thanks, guys.
I just read the comments aloud, and Geoff complained from the kitchen that no one has commented on how pretty he is. Silly boy. He’s doing dishes- it’s an important masculine skill.
(smug) I made my dress. And my headpiece and veil, which saved me roughly $900- $2000. (/end smug)
Yes, we were married on December 28th, so that our friends at American colleges could fly up. Oh, extra-exciting news, at least for me- my Maid of Honour and Geoff’s Best Man got engaged last Thursday… on January 9th. Wheee! They’ll make an exceedingly tall couple- she’s 5"10 and he’s 6"6. I’ll look like a midget when I’m Matron of Honour at their wedding.
Your gown was very becoming–the string of pearls was just right for that neckline. And so few can carry off a full-length veil; it looked perfect on you! I think the headpiece with the pearls made all the difference.
(I was in the craft store the other. I remembered your thread about pulling together your decorations and everything else you had to do and I wondered how it all came out!)
For Geoff’s sake…he’s pretty too, in his nice suit!
These really are very good pictures. It looks like you both had a great time, and I wish you all the best in your marriage, and the same to the future-husband-and-wife friends! Congratulations!
He says I’ve been misrepresenting him and now everyone will think he’s whiny. Oh, well.
We should be getting more pics up fairly soon- the photographer has been sending them in batches. I can’t wait to see the shot of me and the bridesmaids eating breakfast with the champagne bottle clearly visible. The Flower Girl/Bridesmaid’s boyfriend bought us Asti, bless him.
Ugh, that’s awful, Nymysys. Flu as newlyweds- well, I suppose it’ll cement the “In sickness and in health” bit…
We’re working on the “too much stuff, too little space” thing as well. And our cat has adopted a big flattened-out cardboard box as a sleeping area. We’re trying to figure out how to explain to him that Mommy and Daddy really need the floorspace… I don’t know how this will work out.
I think we may have too many books, or at least I may have too many books. I’ve brought half of them over so far, and the bookshelves are almost full. I’m worried. Getting rid of books is of course sacrilege.
