How many shakes do you use? I did three or four. I agree that shaking is not just a good idea, but critical when you use vodka, but then again you don’t have a martini any more.

Oh, and El Hefe, the type of gin is of course the most essential element. I go with Plymouth. Cheap gin makes a cheap martini no matter what else you do to it.

TristanAs far as blind tasting, it doesn’t matter. There is such a noticeable difference in temperature that you can’t hide which is which. I am always up for further research though.

I had a blue bedouin in Manhattan once. Vanilla infused vodka with a rock candy garnish. May we live in interesting times.
