I managed to see 24 2020 movies despite seeing zero in the theater this year. I found it to be a very poor year for movies, though there are many I have not seen.
I think I’m being pretty generous on some of these, to be honest. There were zero amazing movies to me, so my rankings are probably skewed a little high at the top to compensate. Palm Springs is bolded for no reason. Just formatting issues made it bold and I can’t fix them.
These all stream somewhere and many of the stream as part of a service you may already subscribe to. Some had to be bought/rented, but all can be seen today on TV if you wish to check them out.
What did you see from 2020 this year? What did you like?
Here is every 2020 movie I saw and a score out of 10.

Note: A few had some kind of limited or overseas release in 2019, but I counted them since their main debut in America was 2020.
Totally not worth its own thread, but as a heads up…
My family just watched Croods 2. My tween kids agreed: it’s so bad it’s good. I have to agree, the amount of attention to get every little detail suck that badly was admirable. The old stick-in-the-eye gag, the teenage kissy faces, the reveal of the girl-power team-up, etc was a scripted hot mess.
I don’t know if it was 2020 fatigue or the second glass, but if you’re in the mood for simple stupidity, it delivers.
I think the only I saw was Onward. Really enjoyed it as did the rest of the family.
If Netflix movies count, Christmas Chronicles 2. Maybe a 3 rating; total waste of Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, who tried their best.
I didn’t bother scoring them, but here is the list of 2020 films I saw from favorite to least favorite (more or less)
The Gentlemen
Palm Springs
Extraction
Hamilton
Birds of Prey
Borat Subsequent Moviefilm
Enola Homes
Bad Boys for Life
Vivarium
Mulan
Underwater
Guns Akimbo
The Old Guard
Wonder Woman 1984
The Midnight Sky
Fantasy Island
Bloodshot
Going from lists on Wikipedia, probably not a complete accounting:
Liked:
Onward

(There are lots more that I saw on the lists that I have but haven’t watched yet.)
*From 2019 but I included it too because the OP did.
Oh, and I forgot Letters to Satan Claus which I loved.
I thought it was just bad. (I didn’t like the first one either, but didn’t remember why and gave the 2nd a try.) It is just a bunch of scenes tossed together into a salad, with some really poor story structure.
Some of the potential Oscar nominees that I saw listed somewhere included the following:
The Father
Nomadland
Mank
The Trial of the Chicago 7
Promising Young Woman
There were others but those are the ones that interest me.
The only one I’ve seen is Promising Young Woman. All I’m going to say here is that it’s well worth the watch. It starts off as a movie that you know immediately is expertly crafted, but as it heads towards its conclusion it hits you like a hammer blow. But then, I’m a sucker for emotionally-laden films. I’d love to see this get some attention at the Oscars.
And Minari, which I think Steven Yuen is being mentioned for a Oscar nomination. I believe Bong Joon-ho said he might be the first Asian American man to win the Best Actor category.
There is no frontrunner this year. A year ago on January 1, I posted to facebook saying that Parasite had a real shot to be Best Picture. It wasn’t a frontrunner, but hype/buzz was building that maybe it could happen.
I’ve heard nothing this year to compare.
