What a great leading character with my name!

Yeah, but The Association song is good. And until just now, I didn’t know the actual spelling was “Windy”.

Not only is the spelling different, it’s a different name altogether. However, she does have those delicious square patties on round buns going for her, so there’s that.

I share a name with the most iconic horror movie slasher dude. As a result, it doesn’t show up much in other movies.

  • ch ch ch ah ah ah . . .*

Have you seen Sneakers? It’s a well-made thriller (although the nineties computer technology and world politics date it). Robert Redford is the lead character and he’s a Marty.

My full name was used for a character on a show that ran for six seasons and was very popular. It wasn’t a coincidence, though the character wasn’t named after me. He was named after my cousin of the same name. I didn’t know about it until I was watching the show and heard my name. I asked my cousin if he had ever watched and he told me the story, which is that one of the writers on the show was a student of my uncle. It’s not clear why he chose to use my cousin’s name instead of my uncle’s.

What about Marty Piletti? Ernest Borgnine earned an oscar for that performance.

Plenty of guys named William in the movies and on TV:

Seward (Lincoln)
Shakespeare (Shakespeare in Love)
Gladstone (Khartoum)
Travis (The Alamo)
Wallace (Braveheart)
Dobbin (Vanity Fair)
Blore (And Then There Were None)
Somerset (Se7en)
Cloud William (Star Trek, “The Omega Glory”)
No last name given (Alien 3, My Name Is Earl, Norm, and many others I haven’t seen)
